This document presents an introduction to the concept of zero for preschool students. The aim is to improve counting and math skills by helping students understand zero. It discusses how the Indian mathematician Aryabhata invented zero, and how it represents nothing or no objects. Activities are proposed to teach zero concretely using apples on trees, coming to see the teacher zero times, and using a spindle box with compartments for each number up to zero. The value of zero is explained, both as an individual place holder and how adding more zeros increases a number's value in the hundreds, thousands, etc.
