This document discusses arc flash hazards and NFPA 70E standards for electrical safety. It provides the following key points:
1. Arc flashes produce extremely high temperatures that can cause severe burns and pressure waves. Following NFPA 70E standards helps protect workers from arc flash injuries.
2. NFPA 70E requires hazard analyses to determine shock, flash boundaries and personal protective equipment requirements. Employers must implement electrical safety programs, train workers, and ensure only qualified personnel work on live equipment.
3. Analyses consider incident energy levels, fault currents and clearing times to determine appropriate protective boundaries and PPE. Proper work procedures and well-maintained equipment help prevent arc flash incidents.
This document summarizes an electrical safety training presentation on implementing NFPA 70E standards. It discusses electrical hazards like arc flash and shock, and injuries they can cause. It reviews OSHA 1910 Subpart S electrical safety regulations and "qualified worker" definitions. NFPA 70E requirements are explained, including performing arc flash hazard analyses, using appropriate PPE based on hazard categories, implementing safety practices, and qualifying employees through training. The presentation emphasizes properly implementing electrical safety programs and standards to prevent workplace injuries and fatalities from electrical hazards.

Prove that the approved voltage indicator or test lamp is functioning correctly
Isolate the supply(s)
Secure the isolation
Prove the system/equipment is DEAD using an approved voltage indicator or test lamp
Prove that the approved voltage indicator or test lamp is functioning correctly
Put up warning signs to tell other people that the electrical installation has been isolated
Once the system/equipment is proved DEAD, work can begin

This document provides guidance on working safely in confined spaces and summarizes the key requirements. It defines a confined space as any enclosed space with risk of death or injury from hazardous substances or conditions. Dangers in confined spaces include lack of oxygen, poisonous gases, liquids that can fill the space, fires and explosions. The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 require employers to avoid entry if possible, implement a safe system of work if entry is unavoidable, and put adequate emergency arrangements in place. A safe system of work involves assessing risks, appointing supervisors, ensuring workers are suitable, isolating hazards, testing the air, providing ventilation, tools, lighting and breathing apparatus if needed.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away

Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA
I develop the Ruby programming language, RubyGems, and Bundler, which are package managers for Ruby. Today, I will introduce how to enhance the security of your application using open-source software (OSS) examples from Ruby and RubyGems.
The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.

HANDLING OF G38A COMPOUND
• G38A compound is heated prior to pouring. Protective clothing should be
worn to prevent accidental skin burns. This should include gloves, boots,
overalls and eye protection.
• G38A compound should be heated in a dry compound bucket, which
should be cleaned out by heating and scraping prior to re-use. It is
important that the container is clean to prevent carbonised deposits being
introduced from previous heating operations in the same receptacle.
• The compound should be transferred into the bucket and placed over the
heating apparatus. A lid or cover should be fitted to keep out dust and
foreign matter while heating. As the compound melts, it should be stirred
frequently to ensure even mixing, thus avoiding the risk of carbonisation.
The lid should be replaced on each occasion.
• The compound shall be uniformly heated with no signs of degradation
(carbonisation) or contamination and then poured within the specified
temperature range (110-115 0C for G38A) .
• Where a compound has solidified in the bucket, it is dangerous to try to re-melt
it by direct heat applied to the bottom. Again, this can cause
carbonisation. Heating should be gradual, starting on the container sides
as above.
• The compound will tend to contract by approximately 6% on cooling. As a
result there will be a necessity for a ‘top-up’ pouring.
2. • The accessory may be energized when compound temperature falls
below approximately 600
• The G38A compound can be disposed of by controlled incineration or in
an approved landfill area according to local regulations.
