The document discusses semantic technology and how Qimaya creates semantic understanding. It defines semantic as emulating human brain features to understand meanings and logically connect them. Current technologies like ontologies require manually adding and updating data, which makes them static. Qimaya uses a self-learning Holthausen network that recognizes patterns in data like a human reads, categorizing and dynamically connecting information. This allows Qimaya to create a semantic web by finding relationships between data sources to power applications like semantic search and ecommerce through semantic mashups.
Study: The Future of VR, AR and Self-Driving CarsLinkedIn
We asked LinkedIn members worldwide about their levels of interest in the latest wave of technology: whether they’re using wearables, and whether they intend to buy self-driving cars and VR headsets as they become available. We asked them too about their attitudes to technology and to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the devices that they use. The answers were fascinating – and in many cases, surprising.
This SlideShare explores the full results of this study, including detailed market-by-market breakdowns of intention levels for each technology – and how attitudes change with age, location and seniority level. If you’re marketing a tech brand – or planning to use VR and wearables to reach a professional audience – then these are insights you won’t want to miss.

There are various definitions, view and explanations about Semantic Web, its usage and its underlying architecture. However, the various flavours of explanations seem to have swayed way off-topic to the real purpose of Semantic Web. In this paper, we try to review the literature of Semantic Web based on the original views of the pioneers of Semantic Web which includes, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Dean Allemang, Ora Lassila and James Hendler. Understanding the vision of the pioneers of any technology is cornerstone to the development. We have broken down Semantic Web into two approaches which allows us to reason with why Semantic Web is not mainstream.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

3. We talk and hear about semantic!
But what is semantik?
Semantic
understands meanings & correlates with web based applications
Semantic isn´t technology. It´s a condition, emulating the human brains features. A
technology, which creates semantic, has to
- be self-learning
- work without any manual input
- understand and connect meanings logical
- correlate with meanings independently
4. The output is a connected web at first view. At second:
Added Value!
5. What is semantic?
Current technologies!
How does Qimaya create semantic?

How can semantic be monetized?

6. None Semantic!

What is the meaning of the Website?
7. Present Aproach of semantic
„Semantic“ is created by adding data, to recognize the
meaning of the original data.....wtf!?
„added Data“
- Ontologies
- RDF (Resource Description Framework) + (Vocabulary Description Language)
- OWL
8. Problems of present technologies
- contextual algorithms are opposed to semantic
- data without „added Data“ get lost
- the allocation of „added data“ is directly or indirectly manually driven
- created „semantic“ is not dynamic, rather static
- „added data“ have to be updated again and again
Lehman Brothers
solvent <-> bankrupt
A semantic structure based on these „technologies“ is basically not
possible!
Maybe the reason why a semantic web hasn´t found its way into the
mainstream yet!?
9. What is semantic?
Current technologies!
How does Qimaya create semantic?
Use cases?
How can semantic be monetized?
Semantic available for any Website?
10. Holthausen Network
The Holthausen network emulates the human brains neural network. The self-learning
network recognizes and connects data according to the analyzed content.
It „reads“ a stream of data in the same way a human being reads a string of words,
representing a sentence. This specific structure equates to a pattern symbolizing a meaning.
Urban golf is a
game, derived from the
original game of golf
11. The recognized content/pattern moves dynamically in the neural network, as a self-
referential and operational closed system, and corresponds to other content/patterns.
12. A technology, able to recognize data, is also able to categorize
and connect them with other data.

13. What is semantic?
Current technologies!
How does Qimaya create semantic?
Use cases?
How can semantic be monetized?
Semantic available for any Website?
14. Semantic is not limited to search, but all web based
applications will benefit!
The first milestones:
- Semantic Web
- Semantic Search
- Semantic Ecommerce
- Semantic Appliances
15. Creating the semantic Web!
Recognizing and connecting meaning as well as the correlation of matchable data provides the
possibility of creating a semantic web, comparable to a semantic network.
Participants of a semantic web will benefit from semantic mashups as a visual output of
semantic organized content.

16. What is semantic?
Current technologies!
How does Qimaya create semantic?
Use cases?
How can semantic be monetized?
Semantic available for any Website?
17. Semantic supports new forms of monetization!
A semantic data flow, based on content, creates a „Give´n Take“-system of data. It makes data
valuable and tradeable. Providing content (data) by a semantic mashup will monetize the websites
content (data).

How does Qimaya create semantic?
Use cases?
How can semantic be monetized?
Semantic available for any Website?
19. A semantic web is working. If there are no limitations such as
complex coding or ontology updates!
Websites should simple be able to join the semantic web. They
´re not supposed to develop it first!
