Infrastructure for water resource development_ Sushil Kumar (NWA)_2011India Water Portal
Dams are classified based on their use, material, and size. The three main types are storage dams, diversion dams, and hydroelectric dams. Storage dams create reservoirs and are the most common type for water storage. Diversion dams raise water levels to divert water into conveyance systems. Infrastructure for water resources includes dams, barrages, weirs, canals, canal regulation works, and cross drainage works. Hydroelectric power plants have components like intake structures, penstocks, power houses with turbines, and tailraces.
The document summarizes a study conducted on brain gain in India. It provides details of the study team and methodology used. Key findings include that brain drain has led to gain in four technological areas - ICT, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Most returnees expressed satisfaction with returning to India and had increased qualifications and responsibilities. Suggestions are made to replicate successful state models, improve policies in education, research and industry, and provide incentives to attract more returnees. In conclusion, the study counters myths about brain drain and suggests further research on the value of migration options and effects on institutional development.
This document provides an overview of a presentation on implementing crowdsourced testing. The presentation was given by Rajini Padmanaban from QA InfoTech. Under a Title 15 Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA), DEFENSEWERX is a platform designed to help solve warfighter problems through increased collaboration and innovation. It discusses the differences between invention and innovation. Common barriers to innovation include lack of CEO/executive support, inability to adopt new technologies, lack of strategy/vision, budget constraints, and cultural/political issues. Enablers include having the correct technology/infrastructure, accepting failure, adequate funding, strategy/vision, and leadership support. DEFENSEWERX aims to lower barriers and provide value to industry, government, and academia through opportunities for interaction and more agile processes.
The document discusses the differences between invention and innovation. Invention refers to something newly created or discovered, while innovation refers to changes made to existing products, ideas or fields. The document then shows charts on barriers and enablers to innovation. It discusses SOFWERX, a platform to help solve warfighter problems through collaboration and innovation under a Partnership Intermediary Agreement. It outlines the process SOFWERX uses and lessons learned on diffusion of innovation adoption profiles. Finally, it provides the value propositions of SOFWERX to industry, academia, labs and government partners.

Health IT Summit in Seattle 2014 - Case Study "Health IT Transformation: Insurance Exchange and Provider Perspective" with Curt Kwak, Chief Information Officer, Proliance Surgeons
The document discusses different adopter categories in the technology adoption lifecycle model: innovators, early adopters, early majority (pragmatists), late majority (conservatives), and laggards. It identifies pragmatists as the key target segment for messaging, as they seek minimal risk and disruption and focus on proven solutions. The document also notes that the model breaks down at the "chasm" between early adopters and pragmatists, as pragmatists may not trust early adopters as references and need to see continued use experience before adopting. It provides suggestions for crossing this chasm, such as focusing communications on the pragmatist segment.

Wallace H. Coulter c3i - Addressable Market PresentationHeidjer Staecker
This document provides guidance on how to properly assess the market potential for a new technology. It emphasizes that the focus should be on solving customer needs rather than just the product itself. Key steps include understanding who the target customers are, what problems they currently face and how they address those problems now, who the major competitors are, and determining if the new technology clearly provides benefits over existing solutions. The document also stresses understanding market trends, size, regulatory hurdles, intellectual property landscape, and identifying the appropriate business model to successfully commercialize the technology. Product-market fit is an important first step, but more work is needed to navigate risks, determine the path to market, and establish a sustainable business.

Congratulations! You have just become the safety manager for Podunk University. Your position is at the campus in Podunk, Colorado, and your predecessor left the job a year and a half ago. There has been nobody in the position during that interval. The commitment of the institution to safety is dubious at best, but you are looking forward to starting your new position and making a positive change.
After introducing yourself to the secretary you share with a half dozen other, more senior, people, you decide to focus on hazardous material and hazardous waste issues since you just completed a great college course on those topics. You tour the campus and discover that the following departments and programs are yours to deal with:
• The biology department has animal dissection, human dissection, a microbiology lab, and a medical laboratory education program that uses small quantities of a lot of chemicals.
• The chemistry department has chemicals that have never been inventoried and a new forensics program (as in
CSI, not in college debate).
• The physics department has high-voltage equipment, lasers, and LEDs.
• The English department has lots and lots of books and papers, as well as photocopiers.
• The math department has lots of computers and whiteboards.
• The automotive technology department has everything pertaining to auto repair, including solvents, asbestos brake linings, pneumatic tools, waste oil, and cutting and grinding tools.
• The Massive Arena is one of the original buildings on campus and has a variety of interesting problems, including asbestos insulation, and the building is undergoing a massive renovation.
Respond to each of the following questions:
1. Where do you start?
2. Where should you focus your initial HazCom efforts? In what order do you tackle the rest of the departments?
3. What are the HazCom issues in the automotive technology department?
4. What are the hazardous waste issues in the automotive technology department?
5. What are the HazCom issues in the chemistry department?
6. What are the hazardous waste issues in the chemistry department?
7. With the Massive Arena renovation, who are the people to whom you need to communicate hazards?
8. What are your main concerns with the physics department?
9. What are the hazardous material/waste spill response issues for the university, and how should you prepare for them?
10. Is any HazCom training needed for the English and math departments?
11. What are some resources for finding out how to solve the HazCom issues?
12. You must choose technology or trainers to do the needed training. What are some issues to consider when selecting these?
13. Due to budget cuts, you have to do the training yourself, and you will use PowerPoint. What are some considerations when developing your PowerPoint Presentation?
14. How can you evaluate your training to ensure that it is accomplishing your ...

In November 2015 OPC surveyed membership from this survey among the top issues to address as outlined by membership
Came four things
Awareness of profession by government
Awareness of the profession by third party payers
Competition from outside the profession
Government regulations of the profession
It really brought forth the questions of where we were headed….
The topic I wanted to discuss today is….
What does this word mean?
Google defines En croach ment as:
intrusion on a person's territory, rights, etc.
If we umbrella the previous slide all of the four major things that we as members felt were priorty to act upon are incased in this topic.
Lets Quicklylook at some of the demographics…
Informatics and data collection is pretty incredible now a days….
Send on June 20th 2016 to all 558 members across Canada only 63 % of those who received the email opened it…. 379 opened the email with the survey link and roughly 60% Of that 155 people clicked the link and 66% of people who clicked a link… 101 of them left something behind… and 5 % of you ate yogurt this morning…..
In summary it appears as if rougly an 18 % response rate
So what we can conclude…. About 37% of memberships emails don’t work……and 70 percent of you are apathetic
The first question looked at the respondents recognized certification
Question 2 addressed the respondents location in Canada
The third question was the most direct…. Have you
Question 4 ….. Which statement defines best your definition of encroachment?
