How to gather the right evidence to demonstrate the business value of learningDr. Regis P. Chasse, MBA
For many years, we could proudly report the cost of learning (cost per learning hour, the ratio of L&D professionals per 1000-employee, or how many people our high-priority programs reached); however, it was very difficult to demonstrate the actual value of learning to the business.
After years of focused efforts, we now use a pragmatic and cost-effective approach to measure the business impact of learning. This document covers:
• The pillars of our effectiveness evaluation framework
• Moving the conversation with stakeholders from cost to value
• Developing a pragmatic measurement approach for a learning program: challenges to expect and goals to set

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.
Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

The aim of the assessment is to test whether the student has achieved the stated learning outcomes for the
Programme as a whole and the specific unit in particular.
Principles
The assessment of the course is governed by a number of principles:
With the exception of the independent study, all units are normally assessed by a combination of course
work, assessment and formal examination weighted in each unit generally at 50:50 though it may be
changed from time to time and from course to course;
Each course work incorporates periodic tests, which will be part of the written unit and therefore, prescribed
at its commencement; each unit will also include deadlines for the presentation of the course work;
The Independent Study must be in an area that is relevant to the named Award.

12. Relevance of Academic
Information and Grading Policy
A student’s final course grade will be determined by
consideration of the following factors:
1. Attendance: 75% attendance is compulsory for
all classes. This facilitates interaction with the
instructor and fellow students as highest level
of learning is achieved by this method. Students
who do not have the requisite 75% attendance in
each paper are barred from the final examination
of that unit.
2. Reading: Every student is expected to have
thoroughly read and reviewed all reading
assignments from the required text or other
reference material.
3. Discussion: Students must participate in regular
classroom discussions as concepts are cleared
and fresh perspectives are formed.
4. Testing and Writing Projects: Students complete
online tests for online courses and case studies
for offline courses.
5. Assignments: Students complete group and
individual assignments for the course. Group
projects inculcate team spirit.
6. Seminars: Students are expected to attend
maximum number of seminars by guest faculty,
weekly quizzes, as well as seminars conducted
outside where Skyline students are sent.
Attendance in external seminars attracts bonus
points. All of these methods help students in
maximising their learning, particularly as they
are able to see direct linkages between theory
and practice.
10
13. Skill Enhancement
Many students generally display limited
skill sets. It has been Skyline’s endeavour
to maximise each student’s professional &
social skills and prepare them for responsible
positions at the place of work. Management
games bring out those areas which need most
attention, among them being communication
(written, verbal and body language), personal
presentations, ability to work in teams,
leadership & qualities of tolerance. HR
experts also give training by identifying
attitudes as well as personal goals and
drivers. In each semester special emphasis
is also laid on corporate requirements and
ability to understand each incumbency, face
competition and sustain positions, as well as
the ability to stay updated in the changing
environment and stay ahead in knowledge
of the relevant work area.
Mock interviews and group discussions are
held / conducted to test whether the students
have been able to develop the skills they
initially lacked. Students are also encouraged
to participate in inter college events on areas
of professional competence like business
quizzes, paper presentations, business plans
competitions and advertising events. Student
are engaged with leading corporates for live
projects.
11
14. Academic & Cultural Committees and Groups
Students take part in organising several academic and non academic activities and can opt for or be nominated
to any of the following committees:
Placement Committee;
Student PR Committee;
Sports Committee;
Literary Committee;
Quiz Committee;
Adventure Committee;
Industry Relations Committee;
Cultural Committee;
Student Affairs Committee.
Trips and Excursions
To provide relief from the strenuous course requirements students are encouraged to go on trips and
excursions organised jointly by the students and the Institute. These trips also help in creating closer bonds
between students and faculty and between peer groups.
Apart from cultivating organisational capabilities in students, these activities provide a practical educational
experience and develop other soft skills such as sporting spirit, discipline, behavioural norms and group
dynamics. In the past students have been to:
Sharjah / Dubai for Inter College Cricket Matches
Dam Dama Lake
Dubai Shopping Experience

27. Summer Training: An Opportunity Window
For most students a live project or Summer Training is their first window to the corporate world. It is
mandatory for all undergraduate and postgraduate students to do at least one 8-10 week summer training
project as part of their course work.
A good corporate environment ensures an appropriate motivation for students and acts as a springboard
for successful careers.
Some organisations where Skyline students have done Summer Training/Live Projects in recent years:
25
28. Summer Training: Performance Appraisal
Every organisation, which takes in our students, is required to give a feedback in a specified format.
The 14-count appraisal assesses across both soft skills and actual ability to perform on the job. Given below
is corporate feedback for one of our students who trained with GMR.

Section
Dear Recruiter,
A strange paradox of our times is that though India is in the grip of recession,
recruitments have not stopped and may in fact have grown over the last two
years. This is primarily on account of recruiters looking for performance in
potential and fresh talent over those with experience. More so is our belief
that several back end operations are well handled by interns and every fifth
intern comes up to expectations and beyond. Its easy then to find talent.
In this changed working recruitment model we present before you our MBA
Class of 2014 who are ready to take on challenges and who have been
exposed to a corporate workplace at least two times during the course of
their MBA programme and one towards the end.
While all students have been briefly profiled, it will be interesting to note
that students have had diverse specialisation combinations as well as choice
of course combinations. Hence students have done the MBA or the PGDM
or the PGP programme or all of them as per each student’s interest and
capability. Besides the course curriculum each student has gone through
several hours of workshops on personality enhancement or GA sessions
or skill based training like SPSS EXCEL or Business communication. Most
students are equipped to work in teams ,give presentations to clients, having
gone through presentations as an assessment method towards the award of
the PGP.
We invite you to visit our website for a more detailed understanding of
other activities and events, all of which go towards shaping students for
corporate sector positions. Please fill out our corporate response form to
initiate this process.
It will be a privelge for our students to have you visit us for campus
recruitments.
With best wishes,
Placement Head
