Alice struggles to make friends until she meets Tulpa, her imaginary friend. Tulpa encourages Alice to socialize but she becomes too reliant on Tulpa. Eventually, Alice learns to make real friends on her own and Tulpa leaves. The film aims to teach its target demographic of 16-20 year olds about gaining confidence and companionship through Alice's journey from loneliness to friendship. It will combine animation and live action to stand out, using drama and comedy to both educate and entertain viewers.

Proposal
I am working in a group of three with Darci Metcalf and Kyle Stevens. The plot revolves around
Alice who struggles to makes an imaginary friend. Feeling sorry for the girl, Tulpa encourages
her to make friends. Tulpa helps encourages her to make some friends. However it doesn’t go
as planned because she ends up not making friends and she relies on Tulpa too much but
eventually she makes friends and Tulpa leaves.
The binary opposition are loneliness and companionship. Reality and imagination, adult
and child.​ These binaries connect together very well. In the beginning she is lonely and she
wants to make friends but her shyness and childish behaviour make impossible for her to do so.
Tulpa comes into help her blossom into an adult. However the girl does grow attached to her
and loses sight of reality but knows deep inside it’s not good for her. These binary cause an
emotional response in the audience which interpolates them.
Target demographic​ is ​16-20 years old boys and girls​.With the ​socio economic​ grouping of
E-D​ because they would be in full time education in university, college, the final year of
secondary school or taking an apprenticeship. The ​psychographics​ of this age group would be
trenders as they would be into the mainstream pop culture. ​Geo demographic​ location of the
audience would range from large cities to small towns and surrounding villages.
The ​purpose of the film ​of the film is to encourage that age demographic to be confident and
to make friends as they vicariously learn through the protagonist. The message of growing will
resonate with the audience as they will be going through the same situation as Alice. The other
purpose of the film is to entertain as there will be elements of drama and comedy involved.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?​ (1988) was one of the first full feature length film to mix animation
and live action. Short films tend to either go for live action or animation. Our approach is that we
will combine the two styles; so that we can stand out and interpolate the target audience.
Animation has become popular with the older audiences and we believe that our short film will
interpolate that audience as seen with popular shows such as ​The Regular Show​ (2010)​,
Steven Universe​ (2013)​, Adventure Time​ (2010).
We will be using dramatic music to enhance the scene so to interpolate the audience. The
writing style will be simple and direct. This way the audience will keep the audience's attention
and it will make it a good watching experience.
The roles that my team will be taking our animator, camera operator, editor, director and
cinematographer (director of photography). The animation will be handled by Darci because she
has the most experienced. The other roles will be rotated around during production and post
production.
