The project planning board provides an integrated interface to plan, control, and view all project data visually. It allows creation and editing of project definitions, work breakdown structures, activities and relationships. Through the planning board, one can view schedules, resources, costs, and progress, and perform simulations. It provides various overview charts like component, capacity, and cost overviews. Reports on costs, capacities and other project details can also be accessed through the planning board.

The project planning board has a central position in the Project System. It simplifies planning
and controlling projects. The project planning board allows integrated processing of your
project, giving you a graphic overview of the project objects. In the graphic interface you can
create, edit and evaluate all the data for a project. You can change the appearance of the project
planning board to suit your individual needs and taste.

8. Scheduling the Project
• In the project system you can plan various date types, such as basic dates and forecast dates. In
this process, you plan basic dates only.
• To do this, you copy the scheduled dates of the activities into the dates of the WBS elements.
Checking the Actual Dates
• You have confirmed the actual dates on the activities. You can now evaluate the dates graphically
in the project planning board. You can call up the project planning board either directly, or from
the Project Builder.

9. Recalculating Planned Costs
• Already planned costs for the created activities by using the quantity structure for your project.
This quantity structure was costed automatically when you saved the project. Use the project
planning board to find the origin of the activity costs.
Costing
• Taking the dates into account, the system calculates the planned costs using the valuation records
or the prices for internal and external services and the required operating resources.
• The time-based distribution of the planned costs is the result of the time-based distribution of
the planned services and the operating resources for the individual activities.

In this section, you work with the project planning board.
The planning board is of central importance to the Project System. You can use the graphical
interface to create, process, and evaluate all the data for a project, such as:
• Create and process project definitions, WBS elements, activities, milestones, and relationships
• Process dates and resources (work, material, and so on)
• Maintain progress analysis data
• Determine and display costs
• Carry out capacity leveling
• Access the information system and other reports

12. Component overview
In the component overview you can see the requirements dates and delivery dates as well
as the last goods movement dates for material components. You can also go to an additional
window to see all the goods movement dates for the selected components.
Capacity overview
The capacity overview presents the available capacity, the capacity requirements and the
overload for each work center as bars or as curves. You can also go to an additional window
to see the capacity requirements for a work center from which ever source, sorted
according to dates.
Cost overview
The cost overview displays the cumulative distribution of costs and revenues (in the
controlling area currency) as the project progresses. You can also go to an additional
window to see the period drilldown for a selected WBS element or activity.
Maintenance order overview
The maintenance order overview displays the dates of the maintenance orders based on the
scheduled dates. With the help of the field selection, you can display detailed information
on your maintenance orders.
