Mission/
Purpose
What is your project going to accomplish? How does this project relate to overall
goals and objectives of the company? It is part of a program or larger project?
To design and install a computer network for the new Fortify Satellite office based on network and user
requirements.
SOW What will this project create? What is the product of the project? At a high level,
how do you plan on doing the work of the project? What are the high-level
deliverables for this project?
This project will create a new network for the new office of Fortify based on their user requirements. It
will allow the staff of Fortify to work efficiently and keep up productivity. The product of this project is a
new computer network system. I plan on first going over the requirements of the network provided by
the company (Fortify). Based on how many users and network requirements, and office/building specs,
I will decide the necessary equipment and hardware. I will then go on sight to draw blueprints of the
design of the network for the office. I plan on doing the project with my team on sight. All installation,
implementation, and configurations will be done on sight. The deliverables for this project is to have a a
proper, efficient network to allow the staff to work productively.
4
Objectives What objectives, if any, of the company is this project designed to meet?
1.) Fast connection and easily accessible network
2.) Quality VoIP to ensure best customer service by staff
3.) Design and install quality equipment and configurations to have lowest
possibilities of network failure.
4.) Complete in a timely fashion in order to allow staff members to begin
working in the new office.
Business
Need
Why should we do this project? What will be gained, changed, or modified? Is
there a financial or business reason to do this project? This area should
contain any feasibility studies, NPV, PI, PB, or PBD used to advance the
project.
The project must be done to allow new satellite office to be used. The staff can not
start working in the new office location unless they have network connectivity.
Fortify is a growing company and is constantly expanding and creating new offices
all over the world. In order to work from a satellite office, there must be an efficient
network in place to allow communication between office and HQ as well as clients.
Without a network in place, the staff will be useless and not be able to
communicate to the outside world or get any work done. A quality network is
essential for staff members in the Chicago office to succeed.
Project
Manager and
Stakeholders
Who will lead this project? Who are the major stakeholders?
I will lead the project in designing and supervising the team to install, implement,
and configure the network.
The major project stake holders are the staff of the new office and upper
management of Fortify approving the project and approving the budget.
Milestones What are the key milestone dates associated with the project?
5
 Initial consultancy - 3/15/2014
 Design and planning - 3/20/2014
 Implementation - 4/01/2014
 Troubleshooting – 4/02/2014
 Training – 4/10/2014
Budget What is the order-of-magnitude budget for this project?
$8,500 (-$2,125) (+$2,975)
User Acceptance
Criteria/Quality
What are the minimum success criteria as defined by the key
stakeholders?
A working computer network system and VoIP service
High-Level
Project
Assumptions
What are the assumptions on which the project is based?
The assumptions of this project are the network will be working properly with minimal
network failure and will be completed by the quotes time in order to move the staff
into the new office.
High-Level
Project
Constraints
What are the major limiting factors that affect the project?
There are not many constraints besides the budget. If we can meet at the agreed
budget, there should be no other constraints. The timeline has been agreed between
both parties and is easily manageable within the given time request.
Exclusions
and
Boundaries
What are the boundaries of the project? What is to be included and what is to be
excluded from the project?
6
Exclusions include
1.) Admin access to staff members
2.) Network failure due to uncontrollable circumstances (i.e. natural
disasters/weather related, service providers network failure, and building
network failures)
Major
Risks
What are the major risks affecting the project?
The major risks involved are going over budget and unforeseeable/network network
failures.

Project
Product
This project will create a new network for the new office of Fortify based on their
user requirements. It will allow the staff of Fortify to work efficiently and keep up
productivity.
We intend to do this by installing and implementing top of the line equipment and
correct configurations based on the users requirements. We plan on using only Cisco
equipment (i.e. routers, switches, etc) All of our techs are well rehearsed in network
design and have their Cisco certifications. This will all benefit the project and assure
that everything goes accordingly.
The product of this project is a new computer network system. I plan on first going
over the requirements of the network provided by the company (Fortify). Based on
how many users and network requirements, and office/building specs, I will decide
the necessary equipment and hardware. I will then go on sight to draw blueprints of
the design of the network for the office. I plan on doing the project with my team on
sight. All installation, implementation, and configurations will be done on sight. The
deliverables for this project is to have a a proper, efficient network to allow the staff
to work productively.
We believe that we will need a total of 1 Cisco Router, 2 Cisco access point, 1 Cisco
24 port switch, 300 feet of cat 6 cables, and 6 Cisco VoIP phones. Our techs will install
all the equipment first. They will then run the cables so they are not in the way. We
well then configure the network, test, and trouble shoot for any issues.

Project
Deliverables
1.) The network will be working properly with minimal network failure and will
be completed by the quotes time in order to move the staff into the new office.
5.) Fast connection and easily accessible network
6.) Quality VoIP to ensure best customer service by staff
7.) Design and install quality equipment and configurations to have lowest
possibilities of network failure.
8.) Complete in a timely fashion in order to allow staff members to begin working
in the new office.
Project
Objectives
1.) Fast connection and easily accessible network
2.) Quality VoIP to ensure best customer service by staff
3.) Design and install quality equipment and configurations to have lowest
possibilities of network failure.
4.) Complete in a timely fashion in order to allow staff members to begin
working in the new office.
5.) Keep the cost of the project under the estimated budget which was $8,500
(-$2,125) (+$2,975)
6.) We arrived at this number through the use of the following equation:
Budget Estimate (Variance of -10% to +25%)
Project

The assumptions of this project are the network will be working properly with
minimal network failure and will be completed by the quotes time in order to move
the staff into the new office.

Acceptance
Criteria
A working computer network system and VoIP service with minimal network failures.
The VoIP service must have good call quality and maintain a 90% up time. If updates
are required and network and VoIP services will be down, we must give a 2 week
notice before hand for quality assurance from Fortify to customers.
