This document outlines a proposal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption from diesel generators in the Middle East. It involves developing a proprietary diesel generator oil and treating fuels with additives using nanotechnology. This would mitigate pollution while conserving fuel. Trials would be conducted on local generators to collect emissions and performance data before and after treatment. With successful results, the goal is to offer this as a total solution to power providers and eventually propose regulations requiring its use across the Middle East.

Project : Introduction of proprietary DG Set Oil for a Green House Gas (GHG)
Mitigation project for a Green and CleanTech UAE
Target:
Without Hydro electric or Nuclear Power, the Diesel Generators are source of Electricity for
the Middle East Countries of Saudi Arabia, UAE and GCC countries. The typical Diesel Engine,
originally invented by Rudolf Diesel is not known to be fully or highly efficient, consequently it
emits through the exhaust, un-burnt Hydrocarbon gases, CO2, NOx and also carbon
particulates as visible smoke.
Objective:
To meet the objective of a reducing the carbon footprint and board the CleanTech band
wagon to fuel the Diesel generators we have to adopt a multiple strategy:
Leverage the nanotechnology knowledge base to dose Diesel Generators with selected
after-treatment additives for the fuels and lube oil.
Develop proprietary DG Set Oil (API CI4 type or CF4, if required for older engines)
that reduces GHG.
Adopt best lubrication practices and implement Oil Condition Monitoring exercise.
In the second phase of the project it may be prudent to acquire an operational Genset
service centre.
Over a period 2 to 3 years and on successful implementation of the above strategies,
dovetail Biodiesel, locally developed by a Group company to fuel Diesel Generators.
Along with biodiesel treat the fuel with green lubricity and other fuel additives for
additional impact.
The ultimate objective is to offer Clean and Green Electricity with minimal carbon
footprint. This may be offered as a Total solution, or supply of nano-technology
additivated proprietary DG Set Oil coupled with supply of Biodiesel.
Seek accrual of Carbon credits, if any, as bonus.

Start up activity :
Set up a company in the Middle East (KSA,UAE, GCC ) to pursue this activity.
Identify Consultants in UAE who can submit a Project for the above.
Set up a Project Office in UAE, staffed with a
o Technical Researcher and report/data compiler
o A Diesel Generator Technician ideally from Cat, Perkins etc..
o Appoint a Project Manager.
The initial activity will require a Market research and Survey to identify.
o Name,
o Make
o Model
o Capacity
o Fuel consumption, Lube consumption
o Emissions
o Explore and discuss progressive conversion for fuelling with Biodiesel.
o Diesel Generators in use in a selected area or location to be chosen to conduct
primary trials.
o A running and operational Genset service centre for acquisition
Medium sized unit
Popular brand like Cat, Perkins etc..
Low to medium Capacity – up to 1 MW
Having trained staff up to 15 service technicians/mechanics.
Target
o 1st
stage - Generators of below 0.250 MW capacity
o 2nd
stage – Generators of below 0.500 MW capacity
o Progressively move up to 10 MW capacity Generators
Obtain historical data on the Fuel and lube consumption over the past 6 month and 12
months, as bench mark data
Identify - Diesel Generator technicians and mechanics for consideration as staff for
ensuing trials.
Train potential technician’s and mechanics and download project plans for operations,
maintenance of generators.
Ensure staff is trained to take sample of oil, emissions tests and sound and vibration
recording.
Identify Oils analysis labs where Ferrography, Elemental oil analysis can be conducted.

Short term activity:
Additionally, identify other potential engine after treatment additive manufacturers.
Identify and download Project plans and tie up with potential candidate users for
conducting trials.
Acquire or outsource Tests/equipment to conduct basic testing like emissions,
temperature reading, sound reading, vibrations etc..
Prior to trials, use equipment above to record current emissions, temperature, sound
and vibrations, as base line data.
Build data above for at least 4 weeks of running prior to conducting trials.
Also obtain complete historical data on generator like Fuel and lube consumption,
emissions, sound and vibrations.
Trials to be conducted on Generators for three lube changes and data to be recorded.
Long term objective:
The core activity of the Enterprise will be exploiting the advancing Nanotechnology
knowledgebase thru dosing and treating Generators with after treatment additives.
Consequently, set up a blending plant that will package the product locally.
Offer complete running, operation and maintenance of Diesel Generators, without
Fuel.
Incorporate Fuel procurement, storing, supply in above contract.
After Business activity crosses critical mass and is self sustaining, offer Franchise to
selected Enterprises and Operators in other parts of the GCC and Middle East countries
dependent on Diesel Generators for electricity.
Expand offering to other countries in the Aspac or Africa regions having similar
dependency on Diesel Gensets.
Stage wise introduction of Fuels like Biodiesel for CleanTech and Green Middle East by
conducting another series of trials in other GCC countries.
Based on successful trials and data generated, present a case to the Government to
promulgate Ordinance or Law that all Generators in the Emirates will necessarily have
to treated with Green & CleanTech after treatment additives manufactured and
dispensed by “Our Enterprise.”
Also propose to the Government that generators in KSA, Emirates, GCC Countries
should progressively use only Biodiesel as fuel.

Technology
Adoption of Best Lubrication practice supported by Oil Condition monitoring services and
coupled with deployment of Nano technology through use of appropriate engine after
treatment additives along
with proprietary DG Set Oil,
propose to reduce typical Diesel engine smoke – Opacity 40 to 50%
and also reduce fuel consumption by at least 2 to 3 % in the first stage.
As project progresses introduce locally available Biodiesel and appropriate fuel additives that
ensures dramatic reduction of Carbon footprint while generating clean and green Electricity,
in the Middle East.
