crises. Slight pain and severe burning sensation begins
at base of skull and travel down the spine and then
jumped to knees and back side of these.
This last for an hour or more then would be a period of
intermission.

21.  Skin crises-
It may cover whole body or may present locally and they
are usually itches and last for few hour.
They persist from 3-4 days.
 Headache-
Severe headache or backache may occur but no attempt
should made to break fast.
It may last for 1-3-4- days and are commonly due to
nervous re-adjustment.

22.  Aching limbs-
pain in hips , base of skull, joints may develop but not
serious.
it may chiefly develop at night and cease during day and
last for 1-2 days.
 Nausea-
due to sudden decrease in normal tension of stomach
induced by bad taste, foul smell, an emotional shock.

23.  Vomiting-
it is a part of elimination due to over activity of liver with
regurgitation of bile into the stomach and excess of mucus
out from body.
It never be harmful n no method attempt to break the fast
during this time.
May last for 3-4 day or according to condition of disease.
Cases:-
1. A man continuous vomit for 6 days and night and when
this ceased develop hiccough for 7 days. when these 2
crises ceased his 7 years suffering was totally end.
2. Mr. B underwent for 31 days fast and began vomiting on
23rd day n it last for 7 days but after he become fine and
regain strength.

24.  Cramps-
may occur in bowel or in wombs of female.
In bowel they are due to gas and uterine cramps are
mainly in those who bleed from uterine.
 Gas-
this sometimes occur while fasting but commonly seen
in patients suffering from digestive troubles, colitis,
enteritis, or “nervous”.
Functional irregularities in stomach and intestine or
increased peristaltic activity may also result in “gas
pain”.
This pain may be general over the abdomen or may be
more or less localize.

25.  Diarrhea-
Rare development.
it comes when there is an imperative need of it.
 Dizziness-
very frequent symptoms and arises in early part of fast. It
arises due to sudden withdrawal of blood from brain.
 Fainting-
occur in early days of fast.
can prevent by stretching, loosing cloth or admitting plenty
of fresh air.

26.  Sore throat-
follow immediately upon breaking the fast and never
last for but a day or two.
 Palpitation-
This might be due to gas in digestive organ or may result
of psychic origin, toxin origin or nervousness.
If it accompanied with other symptoms it should not be
ignored.
 Insomnia-
This is more often due to lack of need of sleep.
In few instances sleeplessness

27.  Visual defects-
there sometime temporary weakness of vision occur
prior to breaking of fast which soon disappear after fast
is broken.
In list Shelton experiences he mention about a man who
used heavy lenses after fast regain his normal vision.
In another instance a lady who saw double without
glasses regain normal vision after a long fast.

29.  Great weakness-
Persistence extreme weakness is a danger signal but seen
rarely.
 Erratic pulse-
A very rapid or low or feeble pulse is taken as danger sign.
The heart must be carefully watched in such cases.
 Difficult breathing-
Dr. Kritzer lists the following symptoms that should be
carefully watched because “ they are the nature’s warning to
discontinue the fast.”
But Shelton said that experienced practitioner knows that
these are not indications of breaking the fast nor danger
signals.

30.  Retention of urine-
Rare occurrence.
hygienic auxiliaries should be taken care.
Carrington mention one case in which “ there was
prolonged retention of urine towards the end of
prolonged fast”
 Delirium-
it is a rare occurrence but seen in those who have taken
large quantity of nerve paralyzing drug, or who are very
toxic.
It arises not because of fast but of other causes.

31.  Petechiae-
They appear in patients who are in very low state f
nutrition and suggest great weakness of capillary walls.
In such cases fast break the fast immediately but in one
case prolonging the fast cause no harm.
