About the Company
Olam Agro India Ltd (Olam) is a government recognised star trading house which was
established in the year 1994. The company is engaged into the processing of food and
agro products such as raw cashew-nut, coffee, cotton, sesame, paddy etc. The company
also does export trading of cashew kernels, clean coffee, cotton and other products. The
company is a member of the cashew export promotion council.
Export Operations
Olam generates majority of its revenue through exports accounting for approximately
73% of total income during FY12. The company has exported 12 products during FY12
representing diverse set of product portfolio. Major products exported by the company
during FY12 included non-basmati, sugar, cotton, maize, basmati, coffee and wheat. The
top five products together accounted for approximately 92% of the total exports for
Olam during FY12 with non-basmati contributing 46% of overall exports. The company
has catered to 64 different export markets during FY12. The share of top five countries
accounted for 63% of total income with Nigeria contributed 31% in FY12.

The company acquired the processing plant of Amisons Foods Ltd in Cochin. The company
is engaged in the processing of frozen marine food products. The company is a trading
house and is one of the approved processing establishments by the Marine Products
Export Development Authority.
Export Operations
Mangala Marine commenced exports of frozen marine food products in 2003. Top five
marine food products exported by the company included shrimps, squid, cattle fish,
octopus and fish with shrimps accounting for major share of 42% in the total exports
for FY12. The company exported total of 7455 MT of frozen marine food products in the
FY12. Major export countries catered by the company included Spain, Italy, US, Portugal
and Belgium. The share of top five major markets accounted for 76% of the total exports
for the FY12. The company’s plants are located in Aroor, Kerala. It is an approved supplier
of several super market chain stores such as Siplec in France and Sysco in US.
