DR. Syed Rizwan Ali is working with the International Rescue Committee Pakistan as a Senior
Health Sector Coordinator. He is managing Primary Health care, Reproductive Health and
Nutrition along with supervision of Environmental Health and Women Protection and
Empowerment under the umbrella of Health.
He has more than 29 years of extensive professional experience in Public Health management
that combines his experience of handling all major emergencies after 1987 in Pakistan, visionary,
strategic and managerial leadership of development and post-emergency / humanitarian /
emergency response programmes and projects, donor relations, resource mobilization and
strategic planning. He is an active member of number of national and international forums for
the development of women and their rights delivery especially in terms of Health both in peace
time and post emergency situation.
He is working with IRC for the last three years and has worked in similar and different capacities
with various International organizations including UN agencies where he worked for the Primary
Health care, Reproductive Health, Gender and Nutrition. He started his Public health
management carrier with Gender integrated Reproductive Health services. His major areas of
focus remained the reproductive health rights components delivery for the underserved
population more specifically for the youth and adolescents. He has successfully applied and
utilized the pioneered software systems for the program management, financial, supply chain
and data management. He has also worked as a consultant for prevention against HIV /AIDS and
produced number of papers and training curriculums on programmatic and financial
management for health for a number of projects.
