Earle Dickson worked for Johnson & Johnson in the 1920s making large cotton dressings. His wife Josephine was clumsy and often cut or burned herself cooking. Earle would make small bandages for her injuries each night. Realizing this was inefficient, he created a strip of gauze with adhesive backing, covered by a fabric, creating the first Band-Aid. This document then discusses the 8 stages of product development: idea generation, idea screening, concept development, market strategy, feasibility analysis, product design, test marketing, and market entry.
