3. Sandra de Ovando was educated at the French Lycee in Mexico and then completed a college degree
in Hotel Management in Paris. Afterwards, she traveled through Europe and Asia where she discovered
exotic flowers, plants and fruit. Her travels brought her to New York, where she opened her first shop,
combining her passion for flowers with her refined management and customer service skills. Her
phenomenal success led to the opening of Ovando in June, 2003.

4. PROJECT METHODOLOGY
Each account has a dedicated account manager to ensure every need is quickly and efficiently attended to.
Our delivery drivers and on-site design staff are quick, courteous, extremely neat, and professional.
Ovando has a production studio located in the New York Flower Market to ensure efficiency and effectiveness for
the scope of the work, including quality control and reactivity to last minute changes and modifications.

Ovando is a first class company. We have first class products, and we provide first class service. We have first class
clients, and we only hire a first class staff, comprised of individuals of integrity, passion, dedication, and a desire to

Our commitment is two–fold: 1) To provide customer service that is second to none; ensuring that our customer’s
needs are not only met, but that their expectations are surpassed. 2) Everything we do is done with the intention of
providing our customers with a product and an experience that will surpass their expectations and keep them

FLORAL QUALITY STANDARDS
•Flowers are hand-selected daily by our design staff.
•Flowers are cleaned and treated as soon as they arrive at the studio and are then stored at the correct
temperature in our refrigerated storage unit.
•Arrangements are made no earlier than 24 hrs before delivery date.
•All arrangements are inspected by the head designer before they leave the studio to double check flower and
design quality.
5. RESTAURANT PARTNERSHIPS
Many of our team members, including the owner of our company and myself, have backgrounds in the hospitality
industry. This insider experience really sets us apart from other floral design companies in giving us a thorough
understanding of the industry demands. We know that the visual impact of a restaurant is the first step in the
hospitality experience. We understand luxury and the importance of personal service. Time is a luxury and with that
in mind we strive for our service to be seamless; prompt and accurate.
- We provide detailed, full color menus with a sample selection of arrangements showing a range of styles and
budget limits for use during event booking appointments.
- Our clients are provided their own email address to send orders to, which we confirm upon receipt.
- We create compelling, inventive seasonal designs for events tailored to a specific client’s preferences and budget.
- Our on-site design teams are available for very early morning installations and late evening breakdowns.
- We understand the demands of fine dining establishments and do everything in our power to accommodate last
minute or special orders from your guests. Our private dining clients are given several alternate phone numbers in
the event that they need to reach their account manager outside of business hours.
6. A SAMPLING OF OUR EXPERIENCE
The Modern: Ovando has been the in-house florist for The Modern restaurant at the MoMA for 4 years. Our design
team creates a new seasonal look for the restaurant every 5 days and we refresh daily.
The Four Seasons Hotel: Ovando has been the in-house florist for the Four Seasons Hotel for one year, creating
designs for the lobby, VIP amenities and Robuchon Restaurant.
The Mark Hotel: Since their re-opening in 2009, Ovando has been the in-house florist for The Mark and now also for
The Mark Restaurant by Jean Georges.
McGraw Hill Companies: Ovando has provided weekly flowers for the Executive Dining department for seven
years. In addition to our weekly delivery we also design arrangements for frequent meetings and banquet events
held on premises.
The Central Park Boathouse: Sandra began working with The Boathouse over 11 years ago, before she founded
Ovando. We are still the in-house florist for their weddings and events and can be seen on-site nearly every
weekend.
Tamarind Restaurant: Ovando provides modern entry, table and bar arrangements with an eastern flair along with
weekly maintenance visits for the newly opened upscale Indian eatery in Tribeca.
W Hotels: Ovando has been the in-house florist for all 5 Manhattan properties and W Hotels Headquarters for four
years. Ovando also creates the International Style Guide for W Hotels Worldwide which local florists in each region
follow to ensure the look of the brand remains cohesive.
Hotel Gansevoort: Ovando has been the in-house florist since the opening of this hotel in 2004. The scope of work
in this hotel includes Ovando providing a new design for the hotel lobby every five days, rooftop garden design,
planting and maintenance, flowers and plants for suites and arrangements for events.
Donna Karan: Ovando has been working with the Donna Karan design team to create installations for their flagship
store and Manhassett locations for the past 5 years.
Hermes: For the past two years Ovando has worked with Hermes to create in-store designs which compliment their
product lines, installing at two locations every five days.
