Letters, bills and statements are the largest part of the customer communications iceberg.
They are central to the customer experience.
Yet the chance to say something powerful usually remains beneath

hidden marketing opportunity.
It has the potential to transform itself from transactional
documentation to become a central force in customer

Digital technologies create significant disruption. However although there are undoubted challenges and issues for many organisations facing this change, there are also opportunities. where there are challenges there are normally opportunities too.
The document discusses opportunities in digital print across several applications in Europe. It notes that while offset printing is declining, digital printing is growing significantly and will make up 21% of the total print market by 2018. Several key applications are discussed, including books, direct mail, and promotional print. For books, opportunities exist in print on demand, local production and distribution to reduce costs, and multi-platform content. Direct mail opportunities include variable data solutions to improve response rates and cross-media marketing. Promotional print opportunities are in short-run cost-effective solutions, versioning, test marketing, regionalization, and new markets like micro-brands. The summary encourages printers to focus on niche opportunities and consider becoming a service provider rather than

Print and beyond insights - the digital book printing opportunityRoger Christiansen
The document discusses the opportunities for book printers in digital book printing. It notes that while print volumes are declining overall, the number of titles being published is increasing. This has led to high inventory costs as up to 50% of printed books go unsold. Digital printing offers book printers the ability to print on demand, reducing inventory risks. It also allows for local and on-site printing, faster production times to market, and customization. The document provides an example of a printer that has benefited from Ricoh's digital solutions through automated workflows and same-day turnarounds.
The document summarizes Ricoh's drupa campaign which targeted existing and prospective customers across Europe and worldwide. The objectives were to generate leads, increase awareness of Ricoh's products and solutions, and promote partnerships. The integrated campaign included direct mail, digital channels, social media, and PR from February to May. It utilized a mobile lead capture system at drupa which exceeded lead generation goals, capturing 7 times more leads than the previous drupa campaign.

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on BlockchainClaudio Di Ciccio
Presented at the CAiSE 2024 Forum, Intelligent Information Systems, June 6th, Limassol, Cyprus.
Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

4. Getting started
Carbon footprint reduction begins with calculating the emission factors
associated with each process in production.
This can be a complex task which requires specialist expertise.
Ricoh, as one of the ‘Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World’

7. Turning Green into a competitive advantage
Deploy your own Green technologies and expertise to help
your clients
Printing on Demand is another approach to reduce waste and energy.
With this approach full colour items are printed in colour onto white
paper without the need for pre-printed stationery, effectively printing
just-in-time.
As a result there is no need to hold onto large stocks of printed
material, which can quickly become out of date and surplus to
requirements.
Print Service Providers can literally save their clients millions by
eliminating pre-printed forms and reducing waste

11. Ricoh at major events
Challenges
In line with Ricoh’s commitment to Environment, we want to ensure we
are Carbon Neutral at all major events
drupa 2012 –was a significant challenge !
How ?
use 100% recycled media with a low carbon footprint wherever possible
showcase other media including a non-tree based paper from Favini that
has been qualified on our colour printers
All Ricoh’s printing activity would be analysed and the carbon emission
calculated based on the number of sheets run through the printers
Track all electrical energy usage for non printing activity
Offset the carbon generated from unavoidable carbon emissions on the
stand
Any paper waste generated at the show would be sent directly to a pulp
and paper mill for immediate recycling after the event
Ricoh at drupa
• 2000m² stand Results
• 14 print engines • When we calculated the total amount of C0₂generated from our own
• 100m² LED wall printing activity and energy usage on the stand, we found that we were
• 100 staff only 2.5% over our original estimate.
• Lessons learnt used to reduce our impact (and our costs) at future events
