Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

of management.
5. Role of a
MANAGER
Managers are responsible for the overseeing and
decision making of a business in order to accomplish
goals by effectively using people and other resources.
8. Analyzing information, setting goals based on information, and making decisions to accomplish the goals
1. PLANNING
Before starting, Ocean has to gather the
information about the heist’s targeted casino
such as blueprints and schematics, plot the
needed cons, begin to think about the size of
the team he will need to accomplish his goals.
10. 2. ORGANIZING
Arranging resources in order to accomplish the goals of the business.
The theft of $150,000,000 requires many
resources such as vans, computers &
technology, explosives, costumes, and a
working replica of the casino vault.
12. 3. STAFFING
Obtaining, training, and compensating employees to accomplish the goals of the business.
Each con during the heist requires specialized
skilled workers. Ocean hires specialists for
transportation, demolition, acting, technology,
and even an acrobat.
14. 4. IMPLEMENTING
Directing and leading people to accomplish the goals of the business.
After planning, organizing and staffing; Ocean
leads his team through the heist itself.
16. 5. CONTROLING
Determining whether a business is accomplishing its goals that were set in the planning stage.
After the heist, each team member was $13,000,000 richer.
