Giraffes are the tallest living animal. They are found in savannas and grasslands south of the Sahara in Africa. Giraffes have distinctive spots and a long black tongue that helps them reach foliage. Their long neck contains seven vertebrae and allows males to reach heights of up to 18 feet tall and weigh 3000 pounds, making them the tallest and one of the heaviest land animals.
