On April 26, 2013, Near West side attended a breakout session on new effective methods for mentoring youth. The four key points of the presentation focused on: The David Dubois UIC Mentoring method, The Elements of Effective Practice(TM) mentoring method, Youth Program Quality Initiative (YPQI) and the Human Achievement Quotient (HAQ). Those four topics were researched and put into this presentation for Near West Side mentors to study and begin using as part of their personal collection of mentoring strategies.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing, monitoring and evaluating CCH and Curry County
prevention programs as contained in the County Biennial Implementation Plan.
Designs and monitors outcome evaluation activities relative to CCH and Curry
County prevention efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Organizes prevention activities
2. Develops and/or procures research-based outcome evaluation instruments
3. Facilitates skill development groups and activities
4. Monitors and coordinates prevention skill development efforts throughout the
county
5. Develops and administers grants and proposals
6. Monitors and evaluates grant awards
7. Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on skill level and job performance, may provide supervision to uncertified
prevention specialists or volunteers
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of –

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s Degree in Human Service related field and one year of experience
providing prevention activities; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of
experience and training. Computer literacy.
Certification
Certified as a Prevention Specialist or make application within (12) months of
employment and receive the Certified Prevention Specialist Credential within (24)
months of the application date.
Valid Oregon Driver License
