The Prevention Specialist is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating prevention programs for Curry Community Health and Curry County. This includes organizing prevention activities, developing evaluation tools, facilitating skill-building groups, and monitoring programs. The specialist must have knowledge of topics like risk factors, protective factors, substance abuse, and positive youth development. A degree in human services is required along with certification as a prevention specialist within two years of hire.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing, monitoring and evaluating CCH and Curry County
prevention programs as contained in the County Biennial Implementation Plan.
Designs and monitors outcome evaluation activities relative to CCH and Curry
County prevention efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Organizes prevention activities
2. Develops and/or procures research-based outcome evaluation instruments
3. Facilitates skill development groups and activities
4. Monitors and coordinates prevention skill development efforts throughout the
county
5. Develops and administers grants and proposals
6. Monitors and evaluates grant awards
7. Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on skill level and job performance, may provide supervision to uncertified
prevention specialists or volunteers
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s Degree in Human Service related field and one year of experience
providing prevention activities; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of
experience and training. Computer literacy.
Certification
Certified as a Prevention Specialist or make application within (12) months of
employment and receive the Certified Prevention Specialist Credential within (24)
months of the application date.
Valid Oregon Driver License
