2. 1. Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on the median nerve in the
wrist. People who use their hands and wrists repeatedly in the same way,
e.g. carpenters, tend to develop carpal tunnel syndrome. Pain, numbness, or
tingling in the hand and wrist, especially in the thumb, index and middle
fingers are the common symptoms.
2. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common, painful disorder of the wrist and the
hand. The condition occurs mostly in women, but may also affect men.

3. 3. To help prevent carpel tunnel syndrome, elevate the arm with pillows while
lying down.
4. Take regular breaks from the repetitive motion. Find a different way to use
the hand by using another tool or try to use the other hand

4. 5. Avoid bending the wrists while working to minimize the risk of carpel
tunnel syndrome. While doing some kind of repetitive work with the hands,
make sure that hands and wrists are comfortable.
6. Avoid activities that overuse the hand to prevent carpel tunnel syndrome.
