ANOTHER YEAR OF SUCCESS!! We recognise that not everything that matters can be measured and not everything measured matters. We believe that a skilled, knowledgeable, caring, committed and well led staff team is at the heart of high quality support and we focus on ensuring this across all of our services. Looking forward we will continue to build on our achievements and develop further services and accommodation so we can support more people and their families in the coming year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Schmucker’s Partners with Sunshine to Celebrate 65 Years
Schmucker’s Restaurant on Reynolds Road is celebrating its 65th
anniversary this year. To
celebrate, owner Doug Schmucker has decided to donate to Sunshine 65 percent of all dine-in
sales from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.
Sunshine is a non-profit organization in Maumee that offers an array of services and programs
for people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Schmucker says he chose to donate 65 percent of all dine-in sales to Sunshine because his
brother was served by Sunshine.
“Sunshine is a great nonprofit that does a lot to help people with developmental disabilities live
fulfilling lives,” Schmucker said. “For as much as they did for my family, and many other
families in the area, this is my way of showing appreciation.”
“We welcome everyone to enjoy a delicious homemade meal that benefits Sunshine,” Sunshine
CEO Betty Holland said. “And you cannot forget the pie!”
Sunshine provides residential, vocational and family support services to people with
developmental disabilities. Sunshine’s mission is to create community among people with
developmental disabilities, their families, friends and staff and does this by offering services that
enable Sunshine to build relationships that enhance our lives through mutual caring and growth.
For more information or to get involved, please visit www.sunshine.org.

NOTE: Sunshine is often known as “Sunshine Children’s Home” in the community. However, we have changed our
name from “Sunshine Children’s Home” to “Sunshine,” to reflect the fact that we now serve many adults. Please
note that in our industry, it is also improper to refer to people with developmental disabilities as “disabled people”
or “handicapped people.” Person-first language is preferable. Please refer to them as “people with developmental
disabilities”. Thank you for your attention to these details in the coverage of Sunshine’s events.
