Soldier Plans to Teach English Abroad
Tampa, FL, November 18, 2010 — Cliff Adams is planning to teach English abroad after his tour of duty is complete in April of 2011. Cliff is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and plans to teach English in Latin America. He is currently deployed in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.
For the last five years, Cliff has traveled to six of the world's seven continents onboard U.S. Navy warships. He states, “Each country I pulled into for a five or six day port call was an interesting experience, but I never felt like I "got enough" while I was there. It is impossible to really understand and therefore truly appreciate another culture until you live and work amongst the people. That's why I want to teach abroad.”
As a naval officer, Cliff has helped mentor and train hundreds of people who
have fallen under his charge over the last several years. He attributes his communication and teaching skills to his leadership role in the Navy. He also states, “I have essentially been traveling for the last five years straight. "Culture Shock" will not be something that impedes my ability to be a successful instructor, as it might others who have rarely left the U.S.”
