LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

This document provides an overview of wound healing, its functions, stages, mechanisms, factors affecting it, and complications.
A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
4. Last year, we affirmed our centennial strategic plan, focusing on five pillars of
excellence: quality of education, internationalization, institutional effectiveness,
innovation and the AUC experience that sets us apart.
AUC offers unique services to our host country, to America and to the world. As
Egypt’s only globally accredited University reaffirmed in 2018 by the Middle States
Commission on Higher Education, we take great pride in this vote of confidence
in our performance at the highest American standards. As a student-centered
University, we strive continuously to enhance the educational quality of the unique
AUC experience, with its emphasis on inquiry-based teaching and research.
Bringing back students from around the world to Cairo is fundamentally important
to maintaining AUC’s international perspective. Particularly important is the
return of American students to AUC’s Center for Arabic Study Abroad, the world’s
premier Arabic-language immersion program located here in the inviting and
dynamic heart of the Arab world.
Last year, we introduced several management and service innovations: digital
tools, operational and governance reforms, new talent management systems and
assessments, academic ventures and a Tobacco-Free Community Policy for both
campuses. We increased our global partnerships, including student exchange
agreements with Harvard University and King’s College London. We did all that
while continuing to foster excellence in all we do and capitalizing on the strength
and dedication of AUC’s strongest asset –– its people.
Our 2019 - 2020 centennial year holds great promise. We thank you –– AUC’s
trustees and other donors, alumni, parents and friends listed in this report –– for
your generosity and truly vital support of AUC as we usher in another 100 years of
excellence, innovation and service.

5. I’m honored to serve again as chairman of the Board of Trustees and look forward to
working with everyone as the University commemorates another important milestone
in its history.
As AUC revels in the accomplishments of its first century of service to Egypt, it is
inspiring to think about the promise of the next one. Since the University’s modest
beginnings as a small school of 142 students, AUC’s remarkable journey to earn its
place in Egypt and the region is a source of tremendous pride. That history provides
a strong foundation for the new aspirations and greater horizons that will define AUC’s
second century.
During our 100th
year, AUC’s numerous notable achievements included many
pioneering initiatives. We became the first University in the region to offer a blended
degree, collaborating with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the
Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education. We instituted Egypt’s first — and
one of the first worldwide — master’s-level FinTech program. We inaugurated a
Department of Psychology with the first community psychology program in the
region. We celebrated the fifth anniversary of the AUC Venture Lab — the first
University-based business incubator and accelerator in Egypt — and we graduated
our first Al Ghurair STEM Scholar.
We’re also fortunate to have welcomed several new members to AUC’s Board of
Trustees this year: Nora Abousteit ’00, founder and CEO of social-crafting business
CraftJam Inc.; Kristin Lord, president and CEO of the global development and education
nonprofit IREX; and Laurie Fitch (YAB ’91), partner in the Strategic Advisory Group at
PJT Partners. Their talents and commitment to the University’s mission have already
been felt in the board’s deliberations about the University’s direction.
The AUC community displayed its energy, intellectual vitality and pride on February 9
at our centennial kickoff celebration at which we inaugurated our new Tahrir Cultural
Center. It is a privilege to be a part of the AUC community, and I welcome everyone
to participate in all the upcoming centennial activities commemorating our past and
welcoming another century of educational vibrancy at AUC.
RICHARD A. BARTLETT
CHAIRMAN

6. “From Good to Great” — That’s what the AUC Centennial Strategic Plan:
2019 - 2022 Vision is set to accomplish: capitalizing on the University’s
strengths as it marks its centennial and continuously raising its trajectory
of excellence. The AUC Centennial Strategic Plan is centered on
five pillars: quality of education, internationalization, AUC
experience, institutional effectiveness and
innovation.
Pillars of
3
EXCELLENCE
7. QUALITY OF EDUCATION
AUC fosters academic excellence in a liberal arts culture. We continuously enhance student learning through innovative pedagogies;
effective assessment of the curricula and faculty teaching methods; and interdisciplinary, community-based research.
Provost Ehab Abdel-Rahman’s task force on the quality of undergraduate education launched a series of focus groups and surveys
with students, parents, faculty members and department chairs. These yielded recommendations on both curriculum and pedagogy,
many now implemented, to enhance faculty instruction, student creativity and critical thinking, and to remove any impediments to
a positive student learning experience. These included: increasing experiential learning and career preparation in the curriculum;
creating a stronger focus on creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation; redesigning AUC’s learning spaces to align with best practices
for higher education teaching and learning; and creating a direct channel of communication among deans, department chairs
and students. The task force also recommended improving teaching assessments and institutionalizing faculty professional
development. AUC will also regularly revisit the admission process to ensure that the University continuously attracts
and recruits top-caliber students.
“We are constantly developing a culture of continuous improvement through advanced
pedagogies and research that cultivate lifelong learning, personal fulfillment and
adaptability to the future requirements of local and international job markets,”
said Aziza Ellozy ‘64, ‘67, associate provost for transformative learning
and teaching. “Our quality of education is what has defined
us throughout the past 100 years and will continue to
define us into the next century.”
4
“I wouldn’t
be here if it weren’t
for the professors who helped
guide me into this field during my years
as an undergraduate. I didn’t start out with a
love for mechanical engineering. It was only after taking
courses with [these professors] and working with them as a research
assistant that I really came to love this field. AUC is actually a paradise for
ambitious people — plenty of opportunities.”
OMAR EL SAFTY ’18
Mechanical engineering; currently pursuing his master’s and PhD in mechanical
engineering through a fully funded scholarship at Stanford University
8. 5
“By combining
Harvard’s strong
legacy in Egyptology
with new digital
humanities research and
teaching tools, such as our
Giza Project, we hope to help
students excel in all aspects of
the field. And where else to gain
additional experience in Egyptology
but in Egypt itself? We are very
excited about this new collaborative
exchange agreement between Harvard
and AUC, and look forward to increased
‘traffic’ on this two-way street between
Cairo and Cambridge.”
PETER DER MANUELIAN
Philip J. King Professor of Egyptology, Harvard
University; Director, Harvard Semitic Museum
9. INTERNATIONALIZATION
Diversity is one of AUC’s defining characteristics. A multicultural faculty brings a variety of perspectives to the classroom,
while our students hail from around 50 countries around the globe.
In order to maintain and enhance this international diversity, the University has further advanced its enrollment systems
and procedures to bring more international students to join AUC. We now provide more timely notifications of admission
and financial support decisions, publish the academic calendar one year in advance, continuously update the University
website with particular attention to the interests of international students, and have established one-stop service centers to
address international students’ inquiries and needs from the application phase to arrival on campus and afterward.
“One of the key priorities for AUC is to re-internationalize the campus,” said Ahmed Tolba ’97, ’01, associate provost for
strategic enrollment management. “AUC’s multicultural environment is a vital element of high-quality global education.
We aim to realize significant increases in our international student body over each of the next five years.”
Hence, the University is stepping up its presence at international campuses and recruitment fairs, promoting
joint programs to enhance student mobility, continuing to recruit and retain top-caliber faculty, offering
competitive tuition and financial support packages for international students, and working to raise
awareness of professional opportunities and internships available to international students. AUC
established a recruitment team in the United States, initiated a digital recruitment campaign and
launched an Ambassador Program, whereby selected and trained students, faculty members and
alumni advocate for the University in key locales.
Through such initiatives, last year AUC has built new momentum in global partnerships. Most
recently, we have established a student exchange partnership in Egyptology with Harvard
University and a student exchange and academic collaboration partnership with King’s
College London. AUC now has more than 170 global partnerships with prominent
universities worldwide.
6
10. AUC EXPERIENCE
Nurturing a culture of service, trust and collaboration, we are increasing our global outreach and engagement with the
public, while advancing our programs and services to our own community of students, faculty and staff.
AUC is revitalizing both campuses to become public hubs of arts, culture and education. We opened up our arts and
culture scene with events such as Ramadan Nights and the 10th
international Cairo Jazz Festival, hosting 20 jazz bands
from 14 countries at AUC’s New Cairo campus. We have partnered with TAMEER real estate and development company
and the municipality to engage our design students to transform the water tower outside campus into a work of art.
We are also expanding our cultural reach downtown through our new Tahrir Cultural Center. With phase one inaugurated
at our February 2019 centennial opening celebration, the center will host a broad range of artistic and cultural events.
Naguib Sawiris, chairman of Orascom Investment Holding, is supporting the establishment and renovation of the
center, which is fully owned, operated and programmed by AUC.
“AUC has spearheaded great projects to serve the community since its establishment
in 1919, and I’m happy to partner with [the University] on this inspirational
project,” said Sawiris.
7
Egyptian-American artist Sherin Guirguis exhibit at the
Tahrir Cultural Center’s opening commemorated the life of
feminist pioneer Doria Shafik. In 1951, Shafik led the
women’s march on to Parliament from AUC’s Ewart
Memorial Hall for Egyptian women’s rights to vote
and to hold public office.
11. 8
“AUC is a
reservoir of talent. We have
the students, the faculty and the different
departments. We want to bring in everybody and
encourage students to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations.
You don’t have to be a designer or an artist or an architect to come and
play with us. Art is very flexible in content and so inviting by its very nature. By giving
a message without clearly setting boundaries, art creates an open space.”
NAGLA SAMIR
Associate Professor of Practice, Department of the Arts
Member, Water Tower Beautification Committee
We are exploiting digital technology to transform the AUC experience in all our operations and services. One
example: We established the first university cashless program in the region, AUC Coin, to make campus transactions
easier, faster and more secure. The pre-paid electronic system allows students, faculty and staff to use their IDs
as a method of payment for on-campus purchases, tracking their spending and managing their accounts. “This
digital transformation is leveraging technological advancement to redefine the entire AUC experience, providing
services to all stakeholders,” said Hanan Abdel-Meguid ’93, vice president for management and transformation.
Four other projects currently underway resulted directly from the recommendations of the Student Experience
Task Force. Our new Business Process Improvement team works to map, optimize, document and automate
key student-related processes. DegreeWorks offers students and advisers a tool to plan their courses until
graduation and alert students who are off-track. Customer Relationship Management focuses on effective
internal interactions across all student communication touch points. An online queuing system now
streamlines student customer service in high-demand areas. We measure our continuous
advancement in student engagement and satisfaction against the data from
international surveys, such as the National Survey of Student Engagement
used by hundreds of U.S. and Canadian universities.
12. 9
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
We are optimizing our educational, operational and financial platforms through effective use of resources, classrooms
and learning spaces — inspiring creativity, collaboration and discovery. The University is also increasing its operational
efficiency and effectiveness through digitizing workflows and emphasizing paperless transactions, encouraging sustainability,
conducting assessments, as well as implementing data-driven decision making and user-centered services.
We launched a new performance management system, My Performance Journey, to develop our human capital. This
system helps staff members to remain motivated and committed to the University’s mission and values through a positive
working environment and fair compensation. Other new human resources talent management systems at contemporary
international standards include AUC’s competencies framework, competency-based interviewing, the High Performers
Reward Program and Executive Leadership Training Program. The Organizational Excellence Strategy Project supports each
unit and department at AUC through systematic organizational design, accurate workload analysis, employee performance
assessments and employee competence profiles. “This project will incorporate the analysis of best practices at international
and American universities, in addition to analyzing the current AUC culture and incorporating this culture in any proposed
change,” said Sarah Refaat, senior associate vice president for human resources.
The University is the first higher education institution in Egypt to build a state-of-the-art business intelligence (BI)
platform to support proactive, informed decision making as a distinctive competitive advantage. Iman Megahed ’90,
’93, chief strategy and institutional effectiveness officer, led the introduction of BI by developing a focused strategy
supported by University leadership; a data governance structure; a significant change in institutional culture
toward data-driven management; building an expert BI team; and promulgating an understanding of BI as a
dynamic tool supporting all AUC business processes. The BI team built and accomplished an aggressive
first-year roadmap that developed the core information needed by AUC’s students, faculty, staff and
alumni, who participate in building a 360-degree view of their needs.
“Business intelligence,” said Megahed, “is an evolutionary path that started with basics, such as
setting data standards and governance policies to a full-blown eco-system of analytical tools,
data mining techniques and data science practices — all intricately and effectively intertwined
with AUC’s decision-making process.”
13. 10
“Decision making is
not just about making
the right choices or
compromises. Unless
a decision translates into
an action, it is at best a good
intention. Effective decision making,
therefore, entails identifying and
understanding issues from each party’s
perspective, supported by the analysis of
relevant data to consider options, risks and
potential outcomes. This ensures that a sound,
final decision is reached for implementation
and monitoring. The value or competitive
advantage of decision making is in the
alignment of resources or processes within the
strategic priorities of the organization.”

and Chief Financial Officer

15. INNOVATION
Innovation is paramount in a liberal arts institution such as AUC, where we encourage students to think critically and
creatively in an interdisciplinary environment.
Pioneering new pathways in education, AUC is the first University in the region to offer a blended degree, pairing with the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology to grant MITx MicroMasters online learners credits that count toward the completion
of a full master’s degree at AUC. The University is the first in the world to collaborate with MIT in recognizing credits for
this online program on Data, Economics, and Development Policy. The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education, one of
the largest privately funded philanthropic education initiatives in the world, is funding eligible Arab students for the DEDP.
“We believe that [this] collaboration will advance the education and careers of many learners who would not otherwise
have been able to complete master’s degrees,” said Krishna Rajagopal, dean for digital Learning at MIT.
AUC faculty members constantly innovate in pedagogy, interdisciplinary curriculum design, methods of delivery,
assessment tools and impactful research. AUC held its first Research and Creativity Convention, with Professor
Sir Magdi Yacoub, founder of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation and professor of cardiothoracic surgery at
Imperial College London’s National Heart and Lung Institute. The event brought together faculty members
and students to share the outcomes of original research and creativity in the sciences, humanities, social
sciences, business and the arts.
We foster innovation not only within our community, but also among other young entrepreneurs. Since
its establishment in 2013, the AUC Venture Lab, Egypt’s first University-based startup incubator and
accelerator, has accelerated 115 startups that generated EGP 88.5 million in revenues, raised
EGP 220 million in investments and created more than 500 new jobs. The V-Lab has provided
more than 1,500 hours of mentoring and training. AUC’s V-Lab graduates, driven by creativity
and determination, go on to provide life-changing services across Egypt and the region. UBI-
Global, an innovation intelligence company and community, recognized AUC’s V-Lab as
a top University business incubator in Africa and a high-impact incubator in the Middle
East and North Africa region.
12
16. 13
Quality of education has always
been at the top of AUC’s institutional
priorities. The University’s goals for
quality of education — as defined
in the AUC Centennial Strategic
Plan: 2019 - 2022 Vision — include
achieving the highest levels of student
satisfaction, graduate employability
and employer reputation score.
Under the motto “From good to
great,” AUC is committed to fostering
academic excellence and a culture
of continuous development through
innovative teaching approaches and
high-impact, quality research that
inspire lifelong learning, personal
fulfillment and adaptability to the
future requirements of local and
international job markets.
ACCREDITATION: COMMITTED
TO QUALITY OF EDUCATION
17. 14
GLOBAL ACCREDITATION
AUC is globally accredited by the Middle
States Commission on Higher Education
(MSCHE) in the United States, which is a
University-wide accreditation recognized
by the U.S. Secretary of Education
and the Council for Higher Education
Accreditation. After AUC’s rigorous multi-
year, self-assessment process and a visit
by a team of MSCHE peers, the MSCHE
board reaffirmed AUC’s accreditation for
the maximum allowable duration of eight
years. Among the significant University
accomplishments cited by MSCHE
are: establishing Employability and
Career Development Centers in several
Egyptian public universities; improving
the enrollment process; implementing
a cocurricular transcript; integrating,
planning, resource allocation and
assessment in all areas of the University;
and documenting and using data for
planning and assessment. AUC has also
received recommendations from the
MSCHE evaluation team, which are being
implemented and tracked to improve
the student experience and institutional
effectiveness.
NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
In 2010, AUC became the first University in
Egypt to be accredited at the institutional
level by Egypt’s National Authority for
Quality Assurance and Accreditation
of Education (NAQAAE), a national
governmental organization responsible
for establishing quality standards for
Egypt’s educational institutions. AUC’s
School of Business and School of Sciences
and Engineering also received NAQAAE
accreditation at the school level.
PROGRAM ACCREDITATION
Most of AUC’s academic programs hold
specialized accreditations from various
prestigious bodies — testimony to each
program’s excellence in a particular field.
AUC’s School of Business is among the
top 1 percent of approximately 14,000
business schools worldwide, and the first
in the Middle East and third in Africa, to
achieve triple-crown accreditation from
AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business), Association of MBAs
and EFMD Quality Improvement System. In
addition, AUC’s undergraduate accounting
program is accredited by the Association
of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
in the United Kingdom. This is the first
undergraduate accounting program in
Egypt, Africa and the Middle East to receive
the maximum exemption from ACCA.
The School of Global Affairs and Public
Policy’s Master of Public Administration
and Master of Public Policy programs are
triple-crown accredited by the European
Association for Public Administration
Accreditation; the Network of Schools of
Public Policy, Affairs and Administration; and
the United Nations-sponsored International
Commission on Accreditation of Public
Administration Education and Training. The
two master’s programs are the first in the
world to receive “triple crown” accreditation
in the field of public affairs education.
The undergraduate programs in construction
engineering, computer engineering,
electronics and communications engineering,
and mechanical engineering are accredited
by the Engineering Accreditation
Commission of ABET. The undergraduate
chemistry program is accredited by the
Canadian Society for Chemistry. The
undergraduate actuarial science and
biology programs are accredited by the
Applied and Natural Science Accreditation
Commission of ABET. The undergraduate
computer science program is accredited by
the Computing Accreditation Commission
of ABET. The undergraduate architectural
engineering program is the first in the
region to receive validation, with no
reservations, by the UNESCO-International
Union of Architects Validation Council for
Architectural Education.
The School of Continuing Education is
the first in Egypt to be accredited by the
International Association for Continuing
Education and Training.
