cells become sickle-shaped, leading to blockages in blood vessels,
causing pain and tissue damage due to reduced blood flow.

Cell Anaemia in Cheerakadavu hamlet, Palakkad.
21. SIGNIFICANCE
Physiological strain and mental stress during pregnancy worsen due to sickle cell anemia, leading
to premature pregnancies and subsequent abortions.
Instances of dizziness and inability to focus on studies among affected children pose educational
challenges.
Lack of cooperation among locals despite repeated warnings from healthcare providers,
impacting their productivity, particularly in manual labor.
