5. Major initiatives by NARI:
NARI is a voluntary organization, has been working for the last 15 years in Tirupati and rural areas of
Chittoor district on women empowerment and child protection like prevention of child marriages,
Child Exploitation, Child Abuses, reduce of child labor practices etc. The founder of the organization
is a committed Development Activist, worked with ICDS for some time and started NGO as women
leading organization for women empowerment.
Sustainable Agriculture- Farm livilihoods:
NARI is also working to promote sustainable Agriculture methods through encouraging the
Non Pesticide Management activities for decreasing the cost of cultivation and increasing
the income to the farmers.
Promoted 10 Farmer clubs with250 farmers with the support of NABARD, Hyderabad,
conducted trainings on innovative transfer technology like Sri method and mixed crop
cultivation of Millets in Pulicherla mandal
Working with 250 framers on organic forming in 12 villages of Chandragiri and
Ramachandrapuram and Baireddi Palli mandals on promotion of Organic Farming, and
constructed NADAP compost pits with the convergence of MGNREGS.
Facilitated to open a NPM shop to bring Botanical extracts in use by the farmers at
Sanambatla and Nadavaluru villages

6. Trainings for skill up-gradation:.
Provide skill up gradation trainings to 897 SHG women SHG women on Tailoring, Muggam
work , Hand embroidery, applic patch work ,Kundan &mirror work , Fabric painting and Zari
zardhosi work etc., with the support of NABARD, Hyderabad in Srikalahasthi, KVB Puram,
Tirupati rural & Pulicherla Mandals of Chittoor Dist.
Trainings to 115 SHG women on Tailoring, Hand embroidery, Kundan and mirror work, &
Fabric painting in Venkatagiri mandal, Nellore Dist., with the support NABARD.

Promoted Common Interest groups (CIGs) with 594 women among 10,000 population under
Ambedkar Hastha Silpa vikas yojana (AHVY) in different works on zari & zardhosi work, Applic
work ,Patch work ,Mirror work and Fabric painting ,completed their Base line profiles and
proposed to further Skill up gradation and Design development trainings with the support of
Development commission of Handicrafts Ministry of textiles, New Delhi.
Training on Maggam work to minority women at kalluru, pulicherla mandal with the support of
ALEAP & Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India New Delhi, At present trained 50 women they got
wage employment & self employment
7. Jute Bag making Training
Training on jute bag making of urban slum women at Tirupati with the coordination of MEPMA
& with the support of ALEAP & Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, New Delhi, at present
trained 120 women and provided wage employment & self employment.

Activities against child labour and child marriage practices
NARI is working for Protection of Child Rights & Prevention of Early Child Marriages in
Srikalahasti, Yerpedu, KVB Puram and B N Kandriga mandals with the support of DKA Austria
& Mahitha. Organized adolescent girl’s awareness camps on child marriages
Identified drop out children enrolled in to nearby the schools.
Sensitized SMC committees on RTE Act-2009 & Child rights.
Organized anti Child Marriages campaigns during Mahasivarathri festival at Srikalahasthi
every year.

8. Formation of Social Action Committees for prevention of child marriages, they were
committed to work as watch dog committees on prevention of child marriages & protection
of child rights.
Health and nutrition activities
Promoted Health and Nutrition education.
Organized Health and Nutrition awareness campaigns with the support of CARE, Hyderabad
Organized mental health camps for Stigma Reduction on mental illness with the support of
PHFI & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, New Delhi.
Dr.Sesamma treated Mentally ill patients
Conducted KAP survey with 112 members of care givers, Non care givers and students on
Mental Health & Stigma reduction.
Organized Mental health camps at K V Palli and KVB Puram mandals with Psychiatric
Doctors. 256 Mental ill patients was Identified. The patients referred to SVRR Hospital
Tirupati for further treatment.
Conducted mental ill patient’s survey in two mandal among 20,000 population of chittoor
district, AP.
Schools at work site for migrants:
Organized 16 works site schools at Brick industries with Orisha Migrant families of SC/ST.
623 children mobilized at Tirupati rural & Chandragiri mandals of Chittoor district with the
support of RVM and Aid at Action. The main purpose of these schools is to eradication of
Child labor and main stream into formal schools.

9. WASH Services to Dalith & Tribal communities
Exclusive study was conducted on Assessing of accessing drinking water and sanitation to
Dalit and tribal communities in 10 villages of three mandals of Srikalahasthi ,K V B puram
and Thottambedu with the support of Water Aid Project. Awareness meetings were
conducted on open defecation, Hand wash, safe drinking water, Personal hygiene and
community sanitation. The community came forward for construction of toilets and usage.
Organized State level Orientation training on Nirmal Bharath Abiyan & National Rural
Drinking Water Programme with Dalith PRI members and NGO leaders at Tirupati, Chittoor
district with the support of Water Aid, New Delhi. 86 PRI members and 120 NGO leaders
participated in the work shop. The project Director MEMPMA, Chittoor, three Executive
Engineers from RWS and Representative from water aid participated in the meeting.
NARI participated SWATCH Bharath activity in Pulicherla mandal and organized awareness
trainings to Surpenches and MPTC members. The president of Mandal Parishad, ZPTC
member and mandal level officers were participated in the meeting. NARI organized
trainings to School children at ZPHigh school Kalluru and Mangalampeta on Swatch Bharath.
