 As a circuit judge with the Juvenile Dependency Division of
Broward County, Judge John Bowman has instituted technology-based
solutions for case tracking, trained new judges in his
division, and helped ensure that children are adopted into
permanent homes. Judge John Bowman also contributes to
numerous adoption awareness campaigns, including National
Adoption Day, which partners with the Children’s Action Network.

 In addition to supporting National Adoption Day, the Children’s
Adoption Network sponsors its Los Angeles Adoption Initiative.
This three-year program has worked to place more children with
adoptive parents by recruiting more parent candidates, retaining
adoptive parents, and providing support for families who have
adopted.

 To recruit adoptive parents, the organization engages in
community outreach efforts using a mobile unit that travels to
events such as community festivals and educational gatherings.
The organization then supports adoptive families by providing
psychological services, conducting home visits, and maintaining a
chat room hosted by adoption experts. Children’s Adoption
Network collaborates with a variety of other organizations to
facilitate these services, including UCLA TIES for Adoption and the
Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services’
Adoption Division.
