  1. 1. The Rainbird Foundation is committed to the end of child abuse as an idea whose time has come. The Rainbird Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit based in Madison, WI.
  2. 2. The Rainbird Foundation impacts the many facets of child abuse by developing partnerships with local and global organizations who are committed to the end of child abuse. These partnerships will include developing or redesigning and implementing services, providing educational opportunities, seminars, and training sessions, and participating in speaking engagements that further the commitment to the end of child abuse.    The Rainbird Foundation participates in projects that produce an alternative solution and results that contribute to the end of child abuse. Our projects target legislation, social services, and law enforcement reform, as well as provide public education and civic programs that transform individuals, families, and communities.   
  3. 3. <ul><li>The Rainbird Foundation has several projects </li></ul><ul><li>currently in development: </li></ul><ul><li>The Partnership Initiative develops partnerships regionally, nationally, and globally with </li></ul><ul><li>organizations committed to the end of child abuse and providing services or resources committed to </li></ul><ul><li>that end. </li></ul><ul><li>A 12-month video campaign to alter the cultural conversation for the end of child abuse from an </li></ul><ul><li>impossible project that can't be done to a project whose time has come.  The campaign is designed to </li></ul><ul><li>educate and inspire viewers to take action locally, nationally, and globally. </li></ul><ul><li>A think tank whose sole purpose is to invent effective alternative solutions for the end of child abuse. </li></ul><ul><li>These solutions will be integrated into The Partnership Initiative as well as implemented by The </li></ul><ul><li>Rainbird Foundation. </li></ul><ul><li>The 1,000 Mile Journey is an annual national fundraiser that:  </li></ul><ul><li>- injects the conversation for the end of child abuse as an idea whose time has come both </li></ul><ul><li>regionally and nationally. </li></ul><ul><li>-provides booths for local non-profits working with issues related to child abuse, giving them an </li></ul><ul><li>opportunity to educate people about the services they offer and resources that are available. </li></ul><ul><li>- politicizes the issue of child abuse  </li></ul><ul><li>- raises funds for The Rainbird Foundation and other local organizations that have been chosen </li></ul><ul><li>for their work contributing to the to the end of child abuse.  </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>The Rainbird Foundation has projects in development that will be produced within the next 3-5 years: </li></ul><ul><li>A program to re-educate caretakers who are either abusing children or at </li></ul><ul><li>risk of abusing children. </li></ul><ul><li>A research team that collects accurate annual, comprehensive child abuse statistics </li></ul><ul><li>that are easily accessible to all people working in the field of child abuse and </li></ul><ul><li>provide a national baseline for measuring results dealing with the eradication of </li></ul><ul><li>this issue. </li></ul><ul><li>A documentary film that exposes the conditions that contribute to the </li></ul><ul><li>persistence of child sexual abuse. </li></ul><ul><li>The Home Project: builds homes to place abused children, giving them the </li></ul><ul><li>professional care needed to restore full health and develop flourishing lives </li></ul><ul><li>beyond child abuse. </li></ul><ul><li>A global research trip to study child abuse and issues related to child abuse. </li></ul>
  5. 5. This event starts at 12:00pm and finishes at 3:00pm. Pre-registration is required. Prizes will be given to the person in each age group who raises the most pledges.       The 1,000 Mile Journey is developing a visible community presence committed to the end of child abuse. We will make our first contributions to an organization or organizations in Wisconsin whose work is contributing to the end of child abuse. We are committed to drawing attention to the crucial need for proper legislation that supports the end of child abuse.    The Rainbird Foundation is hosting its inaugural annual fundraising event:  The 1,000 Mile Journey, a one mile walk with 1,000 or more participants, scheduled for Sunday, April 25, 2010 on the Capitol Square in Madison, WI. 
  6. 6. Hanna Roth was one of the founding principles of The Coaching Exchange, inc.,  one of the first coaching firms in the country, built in the early 80's, in Los Angeles, California. The Coaching Exchange worked with entrepreneurs, religious leaders, government agencies, celebrities, and Fortune 100 companies. For over 25 years Ms. Roth has worked in business, fundraising, event planning and management, and leads courses nationally. She is also a writer, editor, and a magazine columnist. As a child advocate, she specializes in working with teens and families. Ms. Roth is committed to the well-being of children and the eradication of child abuse.  The Founders Elisabeth Norton has been an educator and coach, mentoring students in building strong, successful business practices for over 15 years. She is one of the Midwest's finest Myofascial Release Therapists, a therapy on the cutting edge of physical and emotional recovery. She received her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Ms. Norton is a relationship coach, speaker, writer, and columnist. She blogs on relationships as “Mz. E”. Her commitment  is to people having healthy relationships. Her passion is for young people, in particular teenagers, to be well cared for, loved, and respected.
