The World Bank is composed of 189 member states and staff from over 170 countries, operating through 5 main institutions with offices in over 130 locations globally. The institutions work together as a group to achieve the World Bank's objectives of sustainable growth in developing countries through financing investments, mobilizing capital markets, and providing advisory services to businesses and governments. The Annual Meetings of the World Bank traditionally rotate between being held in Washington D.C. and different member countries every third year to reflect its international character.
