The 7th grade class at Druk School called themselves the "Active Citizens" and participated in a project to educate their fellow students about Bhutanese democracy ahead of parliamentary elections. They brainstormed ways to share information, designing educational posters and hosting classroom discussions. The Active Citizens displayed posters with facts about democracy and the election. Their efforts were successful in increasing awareness among students and encouraging more parents to vote. The Election Commission of Bhutan was impressed with their work and donated funds to establish a democracy club at the school. The Active Citizens felt they learned a lot and were glad to help change their peers' perspectives about the importance of democracy.
Sunshine School is focused on creating a greener and healthier learning environment through education and awareness about the environment. The school has implemented programs to reduce waste and encourage recycling and composting. Children are taught the principles of zero-waste and encouraged to bring less packaged food to reduce lunchroom trash. Through awareness programs and an award system, the students keep the school surroundings clean and the classrooms relatively empty of litter at the end of each day. On Saturdays, a nature club tends gardens and greenery around the school to provide an education about plants and the environment. The school aims to develop good environmental stewardship in the students that will stay with them for life.
Students from Drukgyel School observed garbage everywhere in their community, as the area lacked proper waste collection. To address this, the school formed a Design for Change volunteer group of students and teachers to educate the community about waste management. The group held various activities like monthly plastic collection competitions, promoting "No Plastic Days", and community clean-up campaigns led by teacher-student teams. Their goal was to not only clean up the community but create long-term awareness among locals to properly manage waste.
Blind Verification of Digital Image Originality: A Statistical ApproachLar21
This paper presents a statistical approach to handle information noise in databases consisting of unguaranteed images. In other words, this approach can identify which images fingerprints belong to a given device, and which images fingerprints has been generated by a software, i.e., whether the image was modified by a software. Accordingly, this approach is used to determine which images are original which it is a critical task for forensics methods that requires large-scale collections of reliable data.
1) Students at Jigme Losel Primary School in Bhutan were experiencing health issues like rashes and diarrhea. Handwashing practices and facilities were insufficient.
2) The school emphasized the importance of handwashing with soap through a UNICEF program. However, with only one tap for 850 students, handwashing during lunch breaks was challenging.
3) Students came up with the idea of "Tippy Taps," reusable handwashing stations made from recycled materials. These improved access to handwashing and health outcomes for students. The school has since promoted handwashing education and support for other schools.
1. Lungtenphu Lower Secondary School held a session to remind teachers and students about the Design for Change (DFC) process and their roles in guiding students through each stage.
2. Students identified issues they wanted to address, such as waterborne diseases and preserving the national language, but ultimately decided to focus on combating plastic and plastic products.
3. The school identified measures to reduce plastic use, including banning plastic food wrappers, bottles, and bags in school; fining students for plastic possessions; and turning plastic waste into art.
Dangling Primary School in Lhuentse Dzongkhag, Bhutan was facing major problems with students' English skills, including difficulty reading, pronouncing words, and speaking English. To address this, the school implemented several initiatives focused on building reading habits and practice. This included maintaining reading logs, conducting literary activities, increasing library books, doing buddy reading, teaching rhymes, creating a reading room, and holding language days. As a result, students' reading skills, accent, participation, and interest in communicating in English improved. However, challenges remained such as preference for the local dialect and lack of resources and exposure.
The document discusses different approaches mobile websites and apps take for shopping experiences. It analyzes sites like Babies 'R Us, 1-800flowers.com, ASOS, Safeway, and Bed Bath & Beyond. Babies 'R Us and ASOS take user-friendly approaches with touch menus and easy browsing without clutter. QVC and Bed Bath & Beyond have more cluttered pages and require deep drilling down to view products. Safeway uses a hybrid model combining HTML5 and native features. In conclusion, the document notes the rising adoption of mobile and opportunity to customize mobile experiences for each brand.

Loselling Middle Secondary School faced problems with poor student language skills, limited reading materials and library facilities, and congested parking. To address these issues, the school implemented several programs. They obtained book donations to display in the lower classes and provided guided reading practice after school. They also started a weekly program called "Voice of Loselling, Be Updated" where students read local news to encourage reading, writing, and speaking skills. This program helped improve students' language and understanding abilities.
The children discussed problems in their community like plastic litter. They came up with a solution to collect plastic waste from their school and reuse it by cutting it into pieces to stuff cushions. They also reused plastic bottles and oil cans by turning them into flower pots, brooms, dustpans, shovels, and a mini greenhouse. The children shared their ideas with others to encourage reusing plastics instead of littering.

Webinar: Designing a schema for a Data WarehouseFederico Razzoli
Are you new to data warehouses (DWH)? Do you need to check whether your data warehouse follows the best practices for a good design? In both cases, this webinar is for you.
A data warehouse is a central relational database that contains all measurements about a business or an organisation. This data comes from a variety of heterogeneous data sources, which includes databases of any type that back the applications used by the company, data files exported by some applications, or APIs provided by internal or external services.
But designing a data warehouse correctly is a hard task, which requires gathering information about the business processes that need to be analysed in the first place. These processes must be translated into so-called star schemas, which means, denormalised databases where each table represents a dimension or facts.
We will discuss these topics:
- How to gather information about a business;
- Understanding dictionaries and how to identify business entities;
- Dimensions and facts;
- Setting a table granularity;
- Types of facts;
- Types of dimensions;
- Snowflakes and how to avoid them;
- Expanding existing dimensions and facts.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away
