As mentioned before, the project center has been doing projects and collecting data in a wide range of areas. The VPC has studied canal hydrodynamics, canal wall damage, named Venetian canals, recorded information about churches and the sound of their bell, created a catalogue of all of the public art in Venice, and studied Venetian boat traffic
Explain WPIThe VPC was created in 1988, they have been collecting data for 20 yearsAs a result lots of project topics, lots of coverageFor the 20th anniversary, lots of celebrations, as a part of this the Venice 2.0 website was created to give the VPC a web presence
Additionally as a part of the 20th anniversary celebrations Venipedia was created. It is an English language wiki-based encyclopedia of the city if Venice. It was created to share the project center’s information and data with the public.
This shows that the wiki format is an effective way of sharing information. That is why Venipedia is a wiki, and we continued to work with it
We are looking for a way to combine all of the info/data of the VPC, store it and semantically share it on Venipedia
While Venipedia is a large part of the this project, we also incorporated a mobile app and data sharing capabilities
In order make Venipedia a useful vehicle for information and data sharing we needed to revise the appearance and structure of the website to facilitate the use of the site. Additionally it was important to develop a plan for the continued maintenance of the website
