- Hello, my name is Fern Church and I am currently studying an ITQ here in Itec. My placement is at SA Flyers Ltd. In this presentation I am going to be explaining what we do and my roles within the company.
- We do Design, Print and Distribution. Distribution is our main income within the business. Design and print are less frequent so create less revenue. We mainly do design and print in order to give our clients the option of having a full service to have their flyers designed, printed and distributed all in one package.
- We design such things as flyers, business cards, invitations, signs, point of sales, posters and many more. Depending on the clients requirements we will try and cover any aspect of design that is required. Either myself or our sub contracted designer will do the work needed.
- We do high quality and low cost printing. This can be done for everything we design. The main thing we print being a distribution company is flyers. Within only a few days we can have a design done and printed ready for our customers to pick up or be distributed.
- Our delivery staff are hard at work in all weather conditions week on week. We provide back checks, missed properties and coloured maps stating where has been delivered. Back checks are done by knocking on those doors that have been delivered in differing street names of a set post code and confirming that they have received a flyer. Missed properties state why a property has been missed for example a dog in the front garden or a locked gate. Coloured maps then outline where was delivered in the overall postal sector. Our staff wear high visibility vests, logoed bags and signed vans to ensure people know who is delivering their flyers.
- Quotes – The initial contact is usually done through email or telephone. Bother of which I deal with on a regular basis. As this is the main income of the company I need to ensure quick and accurate response. Distribution Checks – Once every week or two I will physically go with the staff and deliver along side them. This is to check that the job is being done correctly and so that the staff are aware that I can do the work too. Schedule staff – This is all done on our database and I have to cross reference the information on our orders ensuring that everything is covered within the week. One mistake in this and we could lose our contracts. Scanning – I have to scan documents to then be sent to our contractors. This consists of our missed properties, back checks and coloured maps. I also have to send across reports ensuring deliveries were completed in time and to their full quantity. Invoicing – I have to create and send invoices to customers that need to pay. I also have to chase these up to ensure the accounts are correct. Accounting – Once a month I have to ensure that all accounts are sent over to our accountant and everything is accounted for. Spreadsheet Entry – I do this for each other that has arrived in order to keep a track of how much money is coming into the company, and also references back to our accounts. Database entry – This happens after an order has been received. It is then put on the system with all details such as quantity and maps to be distributed. A calamander is then made by myself outlining the teams and what day they deliver that ends up creating the schedule. This must be re checked when the schedule is done and all confirmed. Design – I design logos, business cards, leaflets, flyers and posters. Customer Support – If a customer has any problems then I do all I can to ensure all their needs are met. Client meetings – I must schedule my own client meetings and prep work that may be needed for the meeting. I will then bring any work they may require to seal a sale. Stock Checks – Stock has to be checked at the end of every week to ensure that no late orders were cancelled and that all quantities are there for delivers in the following week.
- I have been doing my apprenticeship just over a year. Once I finish all the assignments of my ITQ, I will then finish my apprenticeship. This will allow me to become full time employed with my current job, or have the experience to look for another.
