This document discusses techniques for efficiently searching bibliographic databases in a systematic manner. It covers identifying key terms and concepts from the research question, selecting appropriate controlled vocabulary and free text terms, constructing a basic search strategy, optimizing the strategy, and translating it across different databases. Thesaurus terms and proximity operators are important tools for developing sensitive search strategies. Strategies should be tested and refined iteratively. The document emphasizes creating focused, exhaustive searches to answer research questions.

Soccer, which has a large number of participants, has a high injury incidence that causes
both financial and time burdens. Therefore, knowledge about the epidemiology of soccer injuries
could allow sports-medicine professionals, such as physicians and physiotherapists, to direct their
work in specific preventive programs. Thus, our aim was to conduct an epidemiological survey of
injuries sustained by professional soccer players from the same team who participated in the Brazilian
championship premier league in 2009.
A Study to compare the effect of Open versus Closed kinetic chain exercises i...IOSR Journals
Abstract: Background And Purpose Of The Study: Patello-femoral arthritis is the most common type of
arthritis especially older people sometimes it is called as degenerative joint disease. Patello- femoral arthritis is
one of the common causes of physical disability in adults. It is the second most common cause of chronic
conditions. 50% of older persons after 55 years are affected. Some of the young people get arthritis from the
joint injuries. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in our nation more than other systemic diseases like
heart diseases, cancer and diabetes. There are many therapeutic interventions for the treatment of patellofemoral
arthritis. The study is to determine whether closed kinetic chain exercise offer any advantages over
open kinetic chain exercises.
Method: The patients are randomly selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and divided into two
groups. Group A and Group B. Group A is trained with closed kinetic chain exercise and Group B is trained
with open kinetic chain exercises for a period of 12 weeks. the pre and post treatment readings of VAS and
KUJALA scale are taken in both groups for statistical analysis.
Results: The results showed reduction in pain and improvement in functional activity in both Group A and
Group B, significant improvement has been noted in Group A after 12 weeks of training.
Conclusion: This study shows that there was significant improvement in functional ability and reduction of pain
as a result of both open and closed kinetic chain exercises program. There are only few significant differences
between closed kinetic chain exercises (GROUP-A) and open kineticchain exercises (GROUP-B). It reviles that
closed kinetic chain exercises are more effective in the treatment of patello-femoral arthritis than the
(GROUP-B) open kinetic chain exercises

Cardiology/Endocrine Case Study
Course Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the case study, students will be able to …
1. Apply the principles of pharmacology relative to pharmacotherapeutics across age levels including the effect of race, gender, ethnic group, and special populations.
2. Describe the uses, actions, effects and nursing implications of general classifications of drugs and selected specific drugs.
3. Investigate media resources and information technologies to enhance knowledge base of pharmacology.
4. Analyze the responsibilities of the nurse when administering drugs.
5. Apply pharmacological research to nursing practice.
Purpose The purpose of this case study is to apply concepts from pharmacology and
pathophysiology, national guidelines, and evidenced based clinical practices in the management of chronic disease. Remember this paper must follow APA guidelines for font, in text citations, reference list etc. No abstract is needed. Provide headings for the different questions in your paper.
Setting This case study takes place in a primary care setting in a small rural hospital clinic that provides health care services to predominately Latino field workers and their families. The rural clinic serves children and adults for all medical needs including well care, acute care, and chronic conditions. Some clients have seasonal insurance, state health insurance, or no insurance. Many live below poverty level according to the federal guidelines. Most do not own a vehicle. Most do not speak English; so, a translator is provided at each visit. The clinic is one hour from the nearest city where higher level of care can be offered to patients in need of specialty care. The clinic is staffed by one family medicine physician, an internist, two nurse practitioners, an RN, two LVNs, a lab tech, eight MAs and support staff. Once a week a cardiologist, podiatrist, pain specialist, orthopedist and ophthalmologist service the clinic. There is an on-site lab and a pharmacy two blocks away. There are two ambulances servicing the entire south end of the county with poor availability for emergencies.
Client
Jose is a 47 year old morbidly obese Latino male who presents to the clinic for follow up evaluation of headaches, dizziness, ringing in his ears and frequent urination. He reports having a headache that “comes and goes” with ringing in his ears and sometimes he sees spots. Jose has taken acetaminophen and states that seems to help. Due to his work schedule of six 12 hour days, Jose has not had preventive care. He reports fatigue and is depressed regarding his current income situation. Jose has just been laid off for the season and will lose his insurance in 30 days until the restart of the harvesting season in March. He is concerned about paying for any health care that may go beyond his benefit period. Jose lives with his pregnant wife, who does not work, and their seven children in a three bedroom one bath house that they share.
AGING· The human lifespan seems to be limited to 80 -100 year.docxsimonlbentley59018
AGING:
· The human lifespan seems to be limited to 80 -100 years (cross-cultural, multi-ethnic) with some exceptions (to 115+ years)
· Life expectancy among genders and races (& socio-economic groups) varies due to standard of living, cultural behaviors (diet, risk taking behaviors, etc)
· In general, women have higher life expectancy than men (possibly due to cardiovascular disease developing later in life).
· Multiple theories of aging:
· Somatic mutation theory: cells are "programmed" to mutate & die after a limited number of divisions (ceiling to possible number of cell divisions of all human cells); possibly due to accumulated defects in mitochondria over time (cells can no longer extract energy from foodstuffs).
· The molecular clock and the Hayflick Limit: after each cell division, the chromosome becomes shortened at the telomere (the tip of the chromosome). Eventually, the shortening is so great that the replicating enzymes can't "read" the chromosome to replicate it, and the cell can no longer divide – this is sometimes called the “Hayflick limit” … this prevents cells from indefinite reproduction, otherwise called the "molecular clock”
· Catastrophic theory: also called the "complexity theory (really a "chaos" theory) of accumulated mistakes in DNA transcription & translation & the inability of the cells and organs to function together in response to the normal stresses of the environment. This results in adaptive dysfunction and organ derangements leading to organism disease as well as the "normal" process of aging & death. Helps explain associated neurological changes with advanced age.
· Neuroendocrine theory: the brain is "programmed" to stop producing needed supportive hormonal factors.
· Extracellular degenerative theory: accumulation of disease over time due to environmental factors.
· Modifiable factors? Can we turn back the hands of time (or at least slow them down)?
· Pay attention to diet
· Fruit and vegetable consumption and mortality (Wang, et al., 2014, BMJ): http://www.bmj.com/content/349/bmj.g4490 (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.
· Dietary protein sources and cancer (Farvid, et al., 2014, BMJ): http://www.bmj.com/content/348/bmj.g3437 (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Considerations
Explode a broad term or not?
Start exploded, be more specific if many irrelevant results appear
Truncate a term or not?
Truncate as much as possible, hardly noise (though not too short)
Phrases or proximity?
When available, use proximity, easier and more sensitive
How broad should proximity be?
Start with 3, increase in steps of 3 and evaluate new articles
54. Medische Bibliotheek Erasmus MC
Creating a basic search strategy (summary)
Type code in Word
Open an element with ()
For emtree terms type ''/exp and paste term
After pasting all emtree terms, type OR ():ab,ti within that element once
for free text words
Type single word synonyms first
Type (() NEAR/3 ()) somewhere in the document to reuse
Copy (() NEAR/3 ()) into the ():ab,ti part search for phrase variants, and
add the words
55. Medische Bibliotheek Erasmus MC
Optimizing your strategy
Temporarily change the syntax and check words:
Per element, keeping the rest unchanged
