A small tree named Aogiri arrived at a school and was planted in the yard. One day, the children heard the tree speaking to them. Aogiri explained that it used to live in Peace Park with its mother, who loved it very much. One summer day, a bomb exploded in the park, setting the trees on fire. Aogiri's mother and a cherry tree were burned. The next spring, a new green shoot sprouted from Aogiri's mother's charred trunk. Over time, the surviving trees helped the park become green again. When Aogiri and the other new trees grew large, they were sent to different schools so children could care for them.
