2. COVEÑAS
The municipality of Coveñas is
located in northern Colombia
in the northwestern part of the
department of Sucre. It was
created as a municipality in
2002 and currently has a
population of 13,270
inhabitants. It is the
municipality that receives the
most tourists in the
department of Sucre and has a
great tourist vocation
accompanied by dreamlike
landscapes.

3. FIRST
ENSENADA
They consist of approximately
5 kilometers and are suitable
for water sports. Near these
beaches there are plenty of
accommodation options and
restaurants that offer typical
food of the region.
In addition to beaches and
restaurants, the first cove is
also conducive to water sports.
Those preferred by visitors to
Coveñas are kayaking,
windsurfing and kite surfing.
These sports can be done
mainly in the sector known as
Coveñitas.

4. SECOND
ENSENADA
The second inlet of Coveñas is
composed of 3.5 kilometers of
beaches that are much closer to
the mouth of the Caimanera
swamp.
These beaches are perfect for
family plans, events such as
weddings, birthdays or if you
prefer to simply enjoy the
warm waters of Coveñas
accompanied by a beautiful
sunset observed from a hut.

5. THE MOUTH
OF THE
CIENAGA
In Coveñas, travelers can tour
the marsh of La Caimanera, a
coastal lagoon of 1,800 hectares
in which it is possible to
appreciate four varieties of
mangroves: red, black, white
and zaragoza. This natural
reserve, which is traveled by
canoe in the company of local
guides who take visitors
through different channels, is
ideal for the growth of varieties
of fish, birds, oysters and other
animals, such as alligators.

6. ARCHIPIÉLAGO
OF SAN
BERNARDO
The San Bernardo Archipelago
is located in the Gulf of
Morrosquillo, has an
approximate area of 255 km²
and is made up of 10 islands.
Since 1996, it has been part of
the Corales del Rosario and San
Bernardo National Natural
Park.

7. MACURA
Múcura is the largest island of
the archipelago, consisting also
of Boquerón, Ceycén, Palma,
Cabruna, Panda, Mangle,
Tintipán, Santa Cruz del Islote
-catalogado as the most
densely populated island on
the planet- and Maravilla.

The Marine Infantry Museum
Park in Coveñas is a place that
gathers all the legacy and
history of the amphibious body
of the military forces and can
be known through cultural,
educational, recreational,
recreational and ecological
technological spaces with

that the tourist that visits
Coveñas must try. If you visited
Coveñas and did not try the
shrimp cocktail, you simply
were not in Coveñas.

PASA BOCAS
The cocadas are typical sweets
of Coveñas and the Colombian
Caribbean that are made with
coconut, sugar, cinnamon and
panela in some occasions. They
are delicious and offer a taste
that will remind you of salt
water forever.

14. SANCOCHO
It is one of the typical dishes of
our land, elaborated a broth in
which the corn, the ripe green
banana, the yam, the yucca, the
potato, the smoke, the carrot,
the coriander, the onion, the
tomatoes and the garlic. And it
can be accompanied with white
rice, avocado, and panela water
or lemonade. After all, a well-
charged and hot soup should
be accompanied with an
equally refreshing drink.

15. CHEESE
NICKNAME

its birthday since 2002 in this

23. CORRALEJAS
The corralejas has a cultural

25. Semana Santa
Holy Week is the annual
Christian commemoration of
the Passion, Death and
Resurrection of Jesus of
Nazareth. Therefore, it is a
period of intense liturgical
activity within the various
Christian confessions. It begins
with Palm Sunday and ends on
Easter Sunday, 1 although its
celebration usually begins in
several places on the previous
Friday (Friday of Dolores).
