1. PRESENT CONTINUOUS
I. Forma:
AM / IS / ARE+ VERB+ ing
II. Situatii de folosire:
1. Putem sa folosim Prezentul Continuu pentru a exprima ideea ca ceva se intampla acum ,
exact in acest moment.
Ex: They are reading their books.
They are not watching television.
What are you doing?
Why aren't you doing your homework?
2. In Engleza, now (acum) poate insemna si in secunda asta, azi, saptamana aceasta, anul
acesta, secolul acesta si asa mai departe in functie de context.Unele verbe au in substarat
ideea de infaptuire intr-un timp mai lung (de exemplu a scrie o carte, a citi o carte, a filma un
documentar, a viziona un serial). Astfel, putem folosi prezentul continuu pentru a vorbi
despre un proces in desfasurare, chiar daca nu e in progres in momentul vorbirii.
EXAMPLES: (Toate aceste propozitii pot fi spuse in timp ce luam cina intr-un restaurant.)
I am studying to become a doctor.
I am not studying to become a dentist.
I am reading the book Tom Sawyer.
I am not reading any books right now.
Are you working on any special projects at work?
Aren't you teaching at the University now?
Stative verbs
Unele verbe nu pot fi folosite in mod normal la aspectul continuu, deoarece
descriu stari si nu actiuni. Intre cele mai uzuale sunt:
• Like, love, prefer, hate, want, wish, need.
• Think, imagine, believe, know, realize, mean, understand, remember,
forget, suppose, hope, see.
• Be, seem, appear, sound, taste, smell,
• Belong , contain, include, matter, owe, own.
NB! Unele verbe pot fi folosite la continuu atunci cand descriu o activitate si
nu o stare, dar atunci ele au inteles diferit:
I think it’s important. (Cred ca este important)
What are you doing? I’m thinking of her. (Ce faci? Ma gandesc la ea)
