The document discusses the filming of a student's preliminary media project. It describes using techniques like match-on-action, shot/reverse shot, and following the 180-degree rule. It also discusses the student learning about camerawork, editing software, and creating a blog to document the process. The student plans to apply these skills to their main media project.
4. 180 degree rule This is the 180 degree rule. This example could possibly be used in an interview where the camera only films one side of the two people and the other side in the next shot. You never see the other side of the 180 degree arch which is shown.
5. Recording findings Whilst doing some test shots, we discovered that the camera tended to go out of focus quite a lot achieving a low quality image. Fortunately for us the majority of the camera angles are going to be still, this will allow the camera to focus itself easier than if we were to do moving shots.
7. Actors Brett Newman As Cpt. Roger. Reece Taylor As Shipmate Mac Daddy Cameo appearance from myself, Yasmin Wadsworth As I will only make a short appearance in the film and Fay will not be acting in it we will do most of the camera shots and angles, however Reece and Brett also took the role of the cameraman also so we all get to take it in turns. The majority of the shots will be OTSS’s, close ups and Mid shots as the area in which we will be filming in has a limited amount of space for us to use. Lack of equipment is also the reason for restricting the types of shots that we can do, for instance we wouldn’t be able to do an aerial shot.
8. Locations The shot to the left is the corridor that we originally chose for Reece to walk down. The shot on the right is the room in which Brett was to wait for Reece to come to him and ask to be enrolled into his Crew.
9. Dialogue for Preliminary Task *Reece walks down the corridor and knocks at the door.* Bret ; (Inside room, muffled) Come In! *Reece walks into the room.* Reece ; Aye aye, Captain Jolly Roger! Bret ; Hi there Shipmate Mac Daddy, take a seat my love. Reece ; Can I join your crew, Captain Bret ; yea’ m’hearty Reece ; thanks mate *Bret hands Reece Pirate wear* Bret ; No Problem, Argh! *Reece walks out of the room, taking the pirate wear* *Bret pops his head around the door and shoots Reece for no reason* Bret ; Yarharharhar. (Evil pirate laugh.) Fin.
10. Changes to Dialogue We changed the area in which we would shoot in, this are did not have a door so Reece was unable to knock on a door, meaning Brett could not say his line ‘Come in!’. We also changed the section where Reece leaves Brett, we added a line ‘No Problem! Here take this.’ whilst Brett passes Reece a pass. Due to a teacher walking in near the end of our film we had to improvise an extra role to make it flow better, this was where I made a cameo appearance where my line was ‘Oh Captain!’.
