The scientists propose that neutron emissions from an earthquake around 33 AD, when Jesus died, could have created the image on the Shroud of Turin and affected its carbon dating. They simulated earthquakes in the lab and found neutron emissions could cause chemical reactions forming images on cloth. This supports the shroud's authenticity by providing an explanation for its existence and the allegedly incorrect radiocarbon dating dating it to medieval times.
