This document discusses the ethical issues surrounding comments made by BBC radio presenter DJ Alex Dyke regarding breastfeeding. Dyke stated on air that breastfeeding in public was "unnatural" and "has to be stopped", which led to hundreds of complaints being filed. His comments broke the broadcasting codes on offensive language and sexual material. Radio producers must consider issues like religion, crime, and offensive language to avoid ethical problems. While views on public breastfeeding have changed over time, it remains a sensitive topic, and Dyke's approach offended many listeners.

3.  Radio producers need to take in a account for
a lot of ethical issues that could occur, radios
needs to make sure no ethical issues are
brought up, they need to make sure
everything the radio presenters says is
politically collect and speak with respect,
some of the ethical issues such as religion
issues, crime, fairness and offensive language
is put onto the radios. They need to make
sure scripts and that none of these aspects
are put onto the radio show.

4.  After listening to the BBC radio Solent presenter
DJ Alex Dyke make serious comments around
breast feeding it made me fairly disgusted with
the comments which were made, DJ Alex Dyke
said breastfeeding was "unnatural" and "has to be
stopped" in public, His comments led to an
online petition, which has so far attracted more
than 6,000 supporters, calling for him to be
taken off air.
 The broadcaster, who has apologised, will not
present his show on Friday.

5.  They were deemed to be ethically unsound
because it was wrong for the DJ to say the
comments about such a natural part of life,
the issues he was talking about is a very
sensitive subject and the way he approached
the subject offended the listeners. A couple
of hours after the radio show aired hundreds
of compliments were filed, the ASA has the
main company to handle the compliments.

6.  The section of the broadcasting codes that DJ dyke comment would come under
offensive language and sexual material, the offensive language was used towards
the subject of breast feeding in public, and way he was talking about breasts on a
public radio stations, the code of sexual material states “‘Adult sex material’ -

 sexual nature which is broadcast for the primary purpose of sexual arousal or
 stimulation - must not be broadcast at any time other than between 2200 and
 0530 on premium subscription services and pay per view/night services which
 operate with mandatory restricted access.

7.  The DJ dykes comments about breast feeding would
be classed as emerging social concern, because years
ago women would not of breast feeding in public and
people would of never saw women do this, but in this
day and age more and more people have accepted
breast feeding in pubic but not all people have
accepted and the radio presenter said it offended
him, he states its “ unnatural” wo man breast feeding
is the most natural things, it is a way of life and a key
part of a new born babies well being, health and diet.
There are three other main emerging and expectation
social concerns, such as gay rights, racism and the
issues surrounding around Muslim women wearing
the head pieces.
