3. Definition- Malaria
A disease caused by a
plasmodium parasite, transmitted
by the bite of infected mosquitoes
characterized by fever, chills,
headache, nausea and vomiting.

4. Cause & diagnosis of malaria
• Caused by a single- celled parasite of genus
plasmodium, transmitted to humans to humans
most commonly through mosquito bites.
• Diagnosed by blood smear examination ( thick and
thin smear)

Malaria is a life threatening diseases caused by
parasites, transmitted to people through bites of
infected female anopheles mosquito. It is
preventable and curable if appropriate measures are
taken.
