Democracy directly translates from Greek to mean "people's rule". The document provides several quotes on topics such as economics, life, football, and religion. It ends with farewell in multiple languages.
The document discusses early horror films that were censored or banned, including Todd Browning's 1932 film 'Freaks' which was banned in many countries for its casting of actors with physical deformities. The 1973 film 'The Exorcist' was also banned in some areas for its intense violence and religious content. In the UK in the 1980s, the term 'video nasties' emerged to describe extremely violent horror films that were newly available for home viewing on videotape, but not properly censored. One such film, 'Child's Play' from 1988, was later blamed for influencing the brutal 1993 murder of James Bulger by two 10-year old boys. This led to a moral panic around children

2) Eddie Hearn reviews that it was the biggest and best boxing event in British history, with several title fights and wins on the undercard also.
3) Froch reflects on the victory and knockout, saying it was the best moment of his career to close the show against Groves in such a conclusive fashion after over a year of antagonism between them.

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that develops after traumatic events like war or natural disasters. Symptoms include hyperalertness, insomnia, depression, and flashbacks. On the TV show Grey's Anatomy, the character Dr. Owen Hunt is a trauma surgeon and veteran who served in Iraq and displays an unstable personality and PTSD from his combat experience. One episode depicts his PTSD manifesting when lying in bed - he has a flashback to a helicopter and strangles his girlfriend as his nightmare blends with reality, thinking he is back in combat. While this episode seems extreme, stories of veterans harming loved ones in a dissociative state where they feel they are back in war are common.

The document discusses how Hollywood has portrayed lawyers in films over several decades from the 1960s to the 2000s. Lawyers are often depicted using emotional appeals and courtroom tricks to sway jurors rather than focusing on facts and truth. Several mainstream films from the 1960s are mentioned that featured political themes. The 1970s saw more paranoid and cynical films produced in response to the political climate. Patriotic films increased in popularity during the 1980s. Science fiction films dealing with technology and surveillance became popular in the 1990s.
1) The document discusses Hollywood's portrayal of lawyers in films and on television as often negative or villainous. It provides several examples of films from different decades that featured evil or unethical female lawyers.
2) Television shows like The Good Wife, LA Law, and Boston Legal are mentioned as shows featuring lawyers, but the document focuses more on portrayals in mainstream films from the 1960s through the 1990s/2000s.
3) These films are described as reflecting the cultural attitudes of their eras, from patriotic war films in the 1960s to more cynical films in the 1970s that captured paranoia, and a return to patriotism in the 1980s shown through action and military films

Dupree Phillips was gunned down by two bored, depressed people while rocking out to their own rendition of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark". Dupree overheard the perpetrators singing lyrics about being tired, bored with life, and wanting trouble as they shot him. When interviewed, Dupree recounted some of the rendition's lyrics which referenced getting a gun due to having nothing else to do, and shooting in the dark.

Comic Book Super Science: Science and Comics in the 20th CenturyJohn Borghi
This document lists and references over 100 comic books, graphic novels, and comic book characters that relate to science and scientific concepts such as physics, engineering, and technology. Some of the comics mentioned include Crisis on Infinite Earths, The Manhattan Projects, Amazing Spiderman, Action Comics featuring Superman, Detective Comics featuring Batman, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, and Watchmen. TV commercial time in the US increased dramatically from 13% to 36% of air time. Modern commercials use manipulative tactics like rewards and games to persuade viewers rather than inform them. Schell argues this reflects a shift towards a "Huxleyan" dystopia where people are controlled through pleasure rather than Orwell's dystopia of control through fear. He suggests people should pursue fulfillment, persuasion, art, and humanitarianism instead of being manipulated.
1) The document is a compare and contrast essay written by Alfred Loh Kai Xuan about the science fiction films X-Men: Days of Future Past and Men in Black III.
2) Both films involve time travel to the past in order to prevent deaths in the future - in X-Men, Wolverine travels to the past to stop Mystique, while in Men in Black III Agent J travels to save Agent K.
3) The films also feature humans or beings with special powers, weapons not based on earth technology, and endings where the characters succeed in their missions.
Jay Mohr is an American actor and stand up comedian known for his roles in the TV series Ghost Whisperer and Gary Unmarried, as well as being a featured player on Saturday Night Live. He is also known for his role as the back-stabbing sports agent Bob Sugar in the film Jerry Maguire.
The passage discusses the question of whether humans are born evil or become evil later in life. It references several examples of truly evil acts committed by humans, such as the George Floyd killing, feeding a pregnant elephant explosives causing its death, and serial killer Ted Bundy's brutal murders of dozens of young women. While some studies suggest certain individuals like Bundy were predisposed to mental illnesses like bipolar disorder from birth, the passage argues that one's upbringing and environment also play a large role in shaping whether cruel or violent tendencies develop. It concludes that cultivating empathy, compassion, and a good education focused on non-violence are needed to curb humanity's potential for evil and keep people from harming each other.

These slides are from a solo presentation I delivered at Modern Media Man Summit (M3 Summit) in Atlanta, GA on September 10, 2010.

Farrah Fawcett gives a stunning performance as a woman who narrowly escapes an attempted rape. When her attacker tracks her down and subjects her to further assaults, she manages to disarm and capture him. Filled with fear and rage, she conspires with her roommates to take justice into their own hands, shocking them with a proposal that blurs the line between justice and vengeance. The film received critical acclaim for Fawcett's genuine and powerful lead performance.
