Developing Student Leaders through Social ChangeOrly Agawin
Leadership is multi-dimensional and is an ongoing process of development and exploration that occurs throughout many student experiences. Change or development within a Student Body is caused by action (whether positive or negative). If the designated leaders of a community choose not to act, someone else will. It is important to recognize that the actions of individuals or organizations within the Student Body affect the development (change process) occurring within the Student Body.

The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

3. WHAT IS MANAGEMENT ?
• Management is a process of conducting a set
of functions (planning, organizing, staffing,
directing and controlling) to get the work
done in an efficient and effective manner.
01-12-2016 RISHI ( MBA-1st year) 3
5. DEFINITION
• “Management is the function of getting things
done through people and directing efforts of
individuals towards a common objective.”
-Haimann
“Management is the co-ordination of all
resources through the process of planning,
organizing, directing and controlling in order
to attain stated goals.” -Henry L.Sisk
01-12-2016 RISHI ( MBA-1st year) 5
6. Characteristics of Management
(1) Management is Goal-oriented Process:
• No goal in the hand no need of management.
• In other words, we need management when we have some goals to be achieved.
(2) Management is All-pervasive:
• Anything minus management is nothing or zero. (A-M = nothing/zero)
• It means management is necessary to conduct any type of activities. Hence, it is
pervasive or universal.
(3) Management is an intangible force:
• Management is that power which cannot be seen .it can only be felt.
(4) Management is a Group Activity:
• It means that it is not a single person who consummates all the activities of an
organisation but it is always a group of persons (managers). Hence, management is a
group effort.
01-12-2016 RISHI ( MBA-1st year) 6
7. (4) Management is Multidimensional:
• The management is a three-dimensional activity:
• (i) Management of Work:
• Every organisation is established for doing some work, like a school provides
education, a hospital treats patients, a factory produces, etc. Of these no work can
be completed satisfactorily without management.
• (ii) Management of People:
• Each organisation is established for doing some work and the same is conducted
by people. Hence, it is necessary to manage the people so that the work can be
accomplished in a better way.
• (iii) Management of Operations:
• To achieve the goals of an organisation many operations or activities need to be
conducted, such as, production, sale, purchase, finance, accounting, R&D etc.
Again, management is needed to make sure that operations are accomplished
efficiently and effectively.
(5) Management is a Continuous Process:
• The various managerial activities cannot be performed once for all, but it is a
continuous process. A manager is busy sometimes in doing one managerial activity
and at other times some other activity.
01-12-2016 RISHI ( MBA-1st year) 7
