Our personal power comes from the wisdom we employ. There are two sources of wisdom for us to draw on, Heavnely wisdom and Earthly wisdom. One leads to life and peace and the other to death and destruction.
God created all things, including the angels and Lucifer. Lucifer was the most beautiful and wise of God's creations. However, Lucifer became prideful because of his beauty and position, forgetting that everything came from God. Lucifer rebelled against God and convinced one-third of the angels to join him. As a result, Lucifer and the rebellious angels were cast out of heaven down to Earth. Satan now prowls the Earth seeking to tempt humans to rebel against God as well.
Satan fell from grace by exercising his free will to rebel against God in pride, leading many angels to join him in sinning. While angels were originally created good, Satan and others willingly corrupted themselves. Satan's fall occurred sometime after Genesis 1 when creation was declared good, and before Genesis 3 when he tempted Eve in the form of a serpent. Scripture implies the angels' sin was one of prideful rebellion and overstepping their proper roles. As a result, the fallen angels including Satan were cast from God's presence into eternal condemnation and chains of darkness.
This document contains Jesus' Beatitudes from Matthew 5:1-16, which describe eight blessings or attitudes: being poor in spirit, mourning, being meek, hungering for righteousness, being merciful, being pure in heart, making peace, and suffering persecution for righteousness. Each blessing is followed by the promise "for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." The document also includes commentary connecting the Beatitudes to the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23 and challenging the reader to be salt and light in the world by preserving, enlightening, and influencing it for God through good works.
The document summarizes Jesus' interactions with the Pharisees in Matthew 12, who demand a sign from him. Jesus refuses and instead declares that the only sign left is his death and resurrection in three days. He chastises the Pharisees for their evil and adulterous nature, noting that even pagans responded better to prophets than they have to him. In contrast, Jesus reassures John the Baptist, who had genuine doubts from imprisonment, that he is fulfilling prophecy and doing God's work. The last sign challenges readers to examine their own hearts and attitudes towards God.
What is the Sabbath meant for? Jesus highlights that love is key in observance of the Sabbath which was misunderstood and it's rules misused in His day.
This document provides an overview of a Sunday school lesson that contrasts two types of wisdom: worldly wisdom and heavenly wisdom. It discusses passages from Proverbs and James that describe the behavior, source and consequences of worldly wisdom, which includes envy, selfish ambition and disorder. Heavenly wisdom comes from God and is characterized by purity, peacefulness, mercy and good fruits. The lesson encourages applying heavenly wisdom to life and recognizing that the ultimate source of chaos is Satan rather than human sin alone. It aims to teach believers how to discern between godly and ungodly influences through understanding the nature of wisdom.
This document discusses the difference between earthly wisdom and godly wisdom according to James 3:13-18. Earthly wisdom is characterized by jealousy, selfish ambition, and disorder. In contrast, godly wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, merciful, and bears good fruits. It argues true wisdom comes from applying spiritual insights to our knowledge and behaviors, as exemplified by Saul of Tarsus. The document urges readers to make decisions with God's wisdom in order to have a positive effect on others.

Working from rest commision jonah on a missionLouis Kotze
God calls Jonah to deliver a message of warning to the people of Nineveh, an evil city, but Jonah initially refuses. King Cyrus of Persia issued a proclamation allowing Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple, fulfilling a prophecy of Jeremiah. This was because God stirred Cyrus' heart to enable the Jews to return. God also stirred the hearts of priests, Levites, and tribal leaders of Judah and Benjamin to go to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple, showing that while people plan, God purposes their plans to fulfill His will.
This document outlines two dimensions and two outcomes of worship, as well as two challenges. The two dimensions are vertical celebration and horizontal proclamation. The two outcomes are people being drawn to Christ and people being sent for Christ. The two challenges are to come and celebrate through music and singing, and to tell others about God's mighty acts by proclaiming His name among people.

The story of the prodigal son is referenced as an example of someone who acted presumptuously on his own but later came to his senses and returned to his father.
The Pursuit of Happiness in an unhappy world Part 2Louis Kotze
David urges people not to envy or fret over evildoers, as they will fade quickly. Believers should trust in God, do good, and remain faithful while living in the land. Though evildoers may prosper for a time, they will be destroyed forever. The righteous who lead blameless lives and do good will stand firm forever.
1) Psalm 37:4 teaches that delighting in God will lead him to fulfill the desires of one's heart.
2) True happiness comes from having one's identity rooted in God rather than from multiple worldly sources.
3) While happiness can come from getting what we want, Buddhism teaches that stopping desires is necessary for true happiness, though C.S. Lewis argued humans' desires are too weak and we settle for lesser pleasures instead of finding infinite joy in God.
This document discusses two biblical passages about Joseph. The first passage describes how Joseph's coat marked him as his father's favorite son and eventually led to him being sold into slavery in Egypt. Romans 12:9-21 outlines several marks of a true Christian, including loving others, pursuing good and hating evil, showing honor, working hard, praying continually, contributing to those in need, practicing hospitality, blessing persecutors, rejoicing and weeping with others, living in harmony, and associating with humble people. Christians are also called to not repay evil with evil.
The document discusses several Bible verses about creation originating from God and existing for God. It also discusses the importance of not just listening to God's word but doing what it says, otherwise one is only fooling themselves. Finally, it mentions a verse about fellowship with other believers deepening understanding of blessings in union with Christ. The overall message is that all things were created by and for God, and true faith requires obeying God's word through fellowship with other Christians.

Unused Power James 3:13-18 Adapted from a Jeremias Fababier sermon http://www.sermoncentral.com/sermons/unused-power-jeremias-fababier-sermon-on-christian-witness-126402.asp
The document discusses the topic of wisdom found in the book of James. It contrasts two types of wisdom - one that is "from above" and one that is "earthly, natural, demonic." True wisdom from God is described as pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, while the other leads to disorder and evil. The document examines different passages in James and Proverbs to understand the source, behavior and motives associated with these two forms of wisdom.
This document discusses the Christian perspective on authority. It begins by examining examples of being "under cover" or protection, then applies this to being under God's authority. It addresses questions about submitting to authorities, even unfair ones, and whether we can resist telling us to sin. The document argues that partial obedience is not true obedience, and that disobedience places one under a curse of "witchcraft." It stresses honoring delegated authorities, as they are appointed by God, and addressing leaders with respect even if they are evil, as God can work through any situation.
1. The document discusses various ways that Christians can be "delivered" both in the Old and New Testaments, such as being delivered from Satan to God, from error to truth, and from darkness to light.
2. Key Bible passages are presented showing how believers have been delivered from sin and wickedness, from the fallen world, and from fear, being transferred to God's kingdom and eternal life through Christ.
3. All forms of deliverance, salvation, and redemption are bound to Jesus Christ, who destroys the works of the devil and is himself the truth, the light of the world, and the source of righteousness, security, and eternal life.
1) Satan is a fallen angel who was once called Lucifer but was cast down from heaven for desiring to be worshipped over God.

The document discusses the concept of justice from both a childlike and mature Christian perspective. It notes that while children have an innate sense of fairness, humans often manipulate notions of justice for personal gain as they age. The text urges Christians to think clearly about pursuing justice in a way that empowers righteous action, is pleasing to God, and helps those suffering from injustice. It outlines that God is a God of compassion, wrath, and rescue who desires justice for the oppressed and defenders for the vulnerable. Christians are called to seek justice and rescue the oppressed as part of God's plan to shine light into dark places of injustice.
People need to hear the essential elements of the Gospel in order to be saved. They will not be saved by hearing your testimony but by the truth of the Gospel. Declare the complete message of redemption for forgiveness and eternal life thru Jesus.
This document discusses developing the mind of Christ. It says that Christians should have the mind of Christ rather than seeking other types of minds. It discusses becoming like Christ over three weeks, experiencing freedom in Christ, and being free indeed. The document lists virtues of godly wisdom from Philippians and James, including being pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. It says all disciples of Christ are growing in godly wisdom, which has eight characteristics - relating to people, responding to circumstances, and decision making.

The document discusses the Apostles' Creed and provides the full text. It then summarizes a chapter in the book of Revelation about the unholy trinity consisting of the beast from the sea (the Antichrist), the beast from the earth (the false prophet), and Satan. Key points are that these beasts are summoned and empowered by Satan but are still under God's sovereign control. Believers are warned to be aware of Satan's schemes but reassured that God sees beyond appearances to ultimate truths.
This document provides a summary of Lesson 7, which discusses how human wisdom is limited compared to God's wisdom. While creation reveals God's existence, the full effects of sin, like natural disasters, cause some to doubt. To fully understand nature and God's relationship to creation, we must understand concepts like God's sovereignty over creation, the threefold curse of the Earth after the Fall, Satan's influence on the world, and the limitations of human wisdom compared to God's special revelation through prophets and Jesus Christ. The general revelation of nature is incomplete and points to the need for God's special revelation to understand His full character and purposes.
We can see only a tiny fraction of the amount of light available. There is a whole spectrum of ultraviolet and infrared light that is vitally important to life we cannot see. Similarly, there is a whole spiritual world we cannot see that is just as important and impacts our lives in a significant way to which most of us are oblivious. Learn to sense the other world and feel it's impact every day.
This document discusses spiritual warfare and demons. It makes three main points:
1) Demons are real but have limited power compared to God. They seek to steal, kill, and destroy but cannot possess believers.
2) Demons are organized in a hierarchy with different ranks like principalities and powers.
3) Believers should not fear demons or waste time binding them, but should rely on Jesus for protection through faith in his finished work on the cross.
We’re Wrestling Who? - Ephesians 6:10-13David Turner
Our battles are not against flesh and blood. Our battles are against Principalities and Powers. These adversaries are much bigger than us and cannot be defeated by our own strength. In Ephesians 6:10-13 Paul identifies who we are really wrestling with and follows up with advice on how to compete to gain victory. For this and other PowerPoint Presentations go to www.Bibleguy.org.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Power source
1.
2. Personal Power Power - The ability or capacity to perform or act effectively. Personal Power - Influence over others, the source of which resides in the person instead of being vested by the position he or she holds. Wisdom is the beginning of power
3. Jas 3:13-18 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. (14) But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. (15) This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. (16) For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. (17) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. (18) Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
4. Two Power Sources Heavenly Wisdom (Godly) Earthly Wisdom (Demonic) Wisdom The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight. Moral capability, to know what is right and how to apply it for good.
5. Heavenly Wisdom Meekness = Power under Control Joh 19:10-11 Then Pilate said to Him, "Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?" (11) Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin."
6.
7. Heavenly Wisdom “I believe the first test of a truly great man is his humility. I do not mean by humility, doubt of his own power, or hesitation in speaking his opinion. But really great men have a ... feeling that the greatness is not in them but through them; that they could not do or be anything else than God made them.” John Riskin
8. The Meek Shall inherit the Earth “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone” Hebr 2:9
Editor's Notes
Our one son loves the zoo, he needs to go at least twice a year so needles to say that means we have to go twice a year. The zoo is great but it does leave a person a little sad when you see an animal caged up. I think of the Lions in the top cages, that powerful animal that just lies there, it’s choices are so limited, it eats when it’s food gets delivered there’s no space to run. It’s only when you hear it roar that you get some sense of the power this animal has but even that is hollow. Compare this to seeing a lion in the wild, we love going to the Kruger Park, everybody always wants to see lions but you can go for days without seeing one because they are free to do as they please.
Jack heard that his company was going to let several employees go in a month or so, and he had heard that he would be one of them. After reading a book on how to influence others, and practicing the subliminal techniques outlined there (they really do work), he decided to use his new powers to keep his job. With subtle tricks he convinced his boss that he was too valuable to let go. He even got a raise.Jack was thrilled at first, and quietly told a friend or two about what he had done, and confessed to how much more powerful he felt having learned about subliminal persuasion. However, years later he realized he never was suited to the job, and that keeping it had kept him from finding something more satisfying. Even worse, the raise he received contributed to a more costly lifestyle, which would be difficult to support with more interesting but lower-paying jobs. He felt trapped. The real problem here was that he didn't know Jack.
Meekness is power under control. It is the restraint of power for the accomplishment of a higher cause.Meekness is never to be confused with weakness. Weakness is the absence of strength and power, whenone has no options left. Meekness is possessing power, yet restraining oneself from using it, choosing to bemeek for redemptive purposes, for love. Meekness is also not to be confused with personality traits. A laidbackpersonality is not to be equated with meekness. An example of meekness versus weakness is clearlyseen in the courtroom scene with Jesus and Pontius Pilate, just prior to the crucifixion. John 19:10-11 says:Then Pilate said to Him, "Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, andpower to release You?" Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been givenyou from above." Some people today look at Jesus and say He was weak at that moment. This is not true.Jesus had power available to Him far beyond anything we could imagine. Yet He restrained Himself. Even atthe most crucial hour and most critical moment He responded to Pontius Pilate's false assessment of thesituation with the powerful truth.

“The people who hanged Christ never, to do them justice, accused him of being a bore — on the contrary, they thought him too dynamic to be safe. It has been left for later generations to muffle up that shattering personality and surround him with an atmosphere of tedium. We have very efficiently pared the claws of the Lion of Judah, certified him ‘meek and mild,’ and recommended him as a fitting household pet for pale curates and pious old ladies.” It is true that the Pharisees and political leaders saw Jesus as a very real threat. It was the zealots and even his disciples who thought of him as too meek. He did not use the language or the tactics of political liberators. He said things that inflamed those who wanted him to take action. He told them to put away their swords, for “all who draw the sword will die by the sword” (Matthew 26:52). But the authorities saw another power at work: meekness lived out in a simple life of obedience which taught a new way of living. They deemed him dangerous. The benefits of his meekness is that he became the ruler of the universe. The Bible says, “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2:9). This lesson from the life of Jesus says that the meek win and the arrogant and powerful lose. This is heavenly wisdom, not worldly. Meekness is the quiet confidence that God is in control, and there are great rewards in that confidence. We are rewarded with peace.
