Do you want to know God? Do you have questions about God? Do you wonder about who you are? This is a series you need to read. Do you wonder how much God knows? Do you wonder about God's Al-knowing knowledge?
This document provides an overview of a Sunday school lesson that contrasts two types of wisdom: worldly wisdom and heavenly wisdom. It discusses passages from Proverbs and James that describe the behavior, source and consequences of worldly wisdom, which includes envy, selfish ambition and disorder. Heavenly wisdom comes from God and is characterized by purity, peacefulness, mercy and good fruits. The lesson encourages applying heavenly wisdom to life and recognizing that the ultimate source of chaos is Satan rather than human sin alone. It aims to teach believers how to discern between godly and ungodly influences through understanding the nature of wisdom.
This document is a chapter from the book "Prosperity of the Soul" by Jerry Savelle. The chapter discusses how Jesus' sacrifice on the cross paid the price not just for salvation from sin but also for healing, prosperity, and blessing in every area of life. It argues that God desires believers to prosper physically, financially, and materially just as much as He desires them to be saved spiritually. The chapter aims to show that prosperity is God's will according to scriptures like 3 John 2, and that Jesus' atoning work provides for prosperity in all aspects of life, not just salvation from hell.
A 40 minute presentation providing an overview of the Calvinist/Arminian debate. While some bias is unavoidable, the presentation is designed to be a balanced look at the theological, historical, biblical, and contemporary issues surrounding this debate.
This document contains a summary of Philippians 2:5-11 which discusses having the mind of Christ. It describes how Christ, though divine, humbled himself by taking human form and obediently dying on the cross. God exalted Christ and gave him a name above all other names, so that all will acknowledge Jesus as Lord. The rest of the document encourages Christians to have the mind of Christ by being filled with the Holy Spirit. It says the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, etc. - will be manifested when the mind is controlled by the Spirit rather than earthly desires. Believers are urged to develop a close relationship with the Holy Spirit by talking to him constantly
This document is the introduction to a book titled "Stolen Property Returned" by John Avanzini. It provides information about the book, including that it has been revised from its original 1984 edition. The introduction gives an overview of the book, stating that it will show Christians how to overcome Satan and make him pay back everything he has stolen through deceptive tactics. It notes that Satan has robbed every person and that Christians often don't realize the full magnitude of what has been stolen from them by the devil. The introduction prepares the reader to learn about how to take back what Satan has stolen using the spiritual application of God's Law of Retribution from the Old Testament.

This is showing the Third Realm understanding of the clean & unclean. An exposition on the City of God & answering the question; What body does Jesus have today?
The document discusses the role of personal religious experience and testimony in Mormonism. It notes that testimony serves as the foundation of Mormon belief and as an authoritative means of identifying truth. Surveys of Mormons showed that most reported being 100% certain that Joseph Smith brought the restoration and the Book of Mormon is true, attributing their certainty entirely to personal testimony received through prayer and spiritual experiences.
This document contains the revelations and experiences of Brother Othusitse Mmusi with God's Spirit, angels, Jesus Christ, heaven, and the end times. It includes encounters in 2010 where God saved Mmusi from sin, and Mmusi felt God's powerful presence through heat, electricity, wind, and fire. The document then goes on to describe numerous spiritual visions and revelations Mmusi has received about angels, Jesus, hell, the rapture, heaven, and the kingdom of God. It is written to share Mmusi's experiences and end times messages received through visions from God's Spirit.
This document is an excerpt from the book "Fruits of Righteousness" by Jerry Savelle. In this excerpt, Savelle discusses the concept of righteousness and how believers can walk in righteousness based on their new identity in Christ. He explains that through Jesus' sacrifice, believers have received the free gift of righteousness and are no longer defined by their past sins but are made righteous. Savelle encourages developing a consciousness of one's righteous standing before God based on faith in God's word rather than feelings or outward appearance. The goal is for believers to produce the same fruits of righteousness that Jesus demonstrated through abiding in him.
This document discusses the role of the Holy Spirit in interceding for believers. It begins by explaining that the Holy Spirit helps believers in their weakness, since they do not always know how to pray as they should. The Holy Spirit intercedes for believers with "groanings too deep for words." Commentators discuss what it means for the Holy Spirit to groan, and how this groaning corresponds to the groaning of creation and believers for redemption. The Holy Spirit comes alongside believers and carries part of their burden, helping them in their struggles against sin and suffering.
This document provides a summary of divine revelations received by Anaele Sylventus Chiedozie about God's warnings to humanity. It describes several revelations he received in dreams and visions, including:
1) A revelation of the rapture of the church, in which he saw great destruction on Earth and confusion among those left behind. Only a small group who waited on God were saved.
2) Warnings about the tribulation and God's judgment that will come upon Earth. False prophets and ministries are warned to repent.
3) Visions of heavenly wonders like seeing the heavens open and a glimpse of heaven and hell.
4) Messages about Satan's deceptions and the

The most important task of man according to Jesus is to achieve the full rebirth of the soul in God's spirit. Only through this rebirth can one understand the deepest truths and experience the endless happiness that God has prepared. Jesus tells his followers that it is their Father in Heaven's greatest joy to see his children reunited with him in full joy. The door to this rebirth is opened when God's spirit awakens within one's soul through love.

This document advertises a 16-week online course on how to see into the Kingdom of Heaven through developing spiritual sight. The course aims to help students grow in intimacy with the Holy Spirit, learn secrets of Jesus' prayer life, and prophecy more accurately. It involves lectures, group sharing sessions, and teachings on topics like Jesus as high priest, visions, and prophecy. This document is the introduction to a book describing the author's experience seeking God's power through fasting and prayer in a closet. Some key points:
1. The author felt called to ministry but lacked power to perform miracles. He locked himself in a closet, determined to stay until God answered his question about lacking power.
2. After enduring temptation to leave, God's presence filled the closet. The author heard God's voice and was given a list of requirements to meet God's power.
3. The author wrote down the long list as God spoke slowly. He was told that by meeting all the requirements, he would heal the sick and perform greater miracles in ministry.
This document discusses demons in the church. It begins by noting that many churches are spiritually dying and pastors are afraid to preach difficult truths. This has allowed false teachings to spread. Some denominations are embracing ideas from mystery religions and the occult without realizing it.
The author claims that by obeying just one New Testament commandment, Christians can personally engage in spiritual battle against these false teachings, even without a position of authority. They will stir up opposition from demons influencing churches. However, the document first provides historical and biblical context for how demons have infiltrated the church by deceiving people and leading them away from Scripture. It aims to convince readers that Christians can indeed become demonized if they stray from biblical truth.
This document provides an overview and table of contents for the book "Pulling Down Strongholds" by Derek Prince. The introduction discusses how there is an invisible spiritual war between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan, and that Christians are automatically involved in this war as citizens of God's kingdom. The book is divided into three parts that will examine the nature of spiritual warfare, how to defeat Satan's strongholds, and how to tear down modern strongholds that are a source of conflict.

This document is an excerpt from a book titled "We Can Take This City!" by Jerry Savelle. It encourages Christians to catch the vision that God wants them to reach entire cities and nations with the gospel. It discusses how Jesus saw people with compassion and wants believers to see people the same way. It urges readers to leave their comfort zones and use their faith to impact cities, as Jesus did. The overall message is that with unity and by focusing their efforts, prayers, and faith, Christians can bring entire communities to righteousness quickly as Jesus' assignment must be done urgently before his return.
This document discusses the Christian virtues of contentment and thankfulness. It argues that contentment acknowledges God's grace and provision, while thankfulness honors God's goodness. Being content means accepting God's sovereignty over one's possessions, position, and circumstances. Thankfulness means acknowledging how God cares for humanity. The document encourages cultivating thankful hearts through prayer and remembering God's blessings.
This document outlines the aspirations of Rev. George Matheson as expressed in 58 sections. Each section explores a different spiritual aspiration such as aspiring after God's perfect day, strength in times of adversity, religious solitude, worship in sorrow, and communion with God. Overall, the document expresses aspirations for deeper spiritual experiences, understanding of God's will, strength through trials, and closeness to God through both joy and sorrow.
This is a collection of writings that deal with the Holy Spirit and hope. There are 2 main texts dealing with this issue. Other topics are intertwined with hope and so it takes some study to see hope in the midst of them.
Psalm 139 discusses how God knows everything about us and is present everywhere. It emphasizes that our worth comes from being uniquely created and known by God, rather than from comparisons to others. The document examines how the psalm describes God's omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. It highlights that we can understand God's thoughts through the Holy Spirit. Overall, the document uses Psalm 139 to show that each person has equal and intrinsic worth in God's eyes due to his intimate knowledge and sovereignty in our creation.
The omniscience of God is more than “God knows everything.” He knows what is true about Himself, life, human nature, relationships, and you. We desperately need His truth about all of those, since our “innate” understanding of all of these is faulty and foolish. If we just live based on how we think these things are, we will find ourselves in misery and creating misery, of wondering why our life has so little meaning.

If we just live based on how we think these things are, we will find ourselves in misery and creating misery, of wondering why our life has so little meaning.
The document outlines the book of Proverbs, including its purpose and major sections. It discusses key topics in Proverbs like wisdom, folly, and contrasts between the righteous and wicked. It also analyzes passages about wisdom from Proverbs, Corinthians, and Christ's teachings. The document defines wisdom and discusses different authors of the proverbs included in the book.
The document discusses the Christian belief that humans have two natures - a human nature inherited from Adam and a divine nature received through faith in Jesus Christ. It explains that originally Adam and Eve lived in perfect harmony with God but disobeyed and chose independence, passing on a sinful human nature to all people. Jesus, as the second Adam, lived without sin and offers believers a new divine nature. The main purpose is to help understand how believers can have both a human and divine nature. It also provides examples of God's perfect, loving, sovereign and trustworthy character to demonstrate why we can trust Him.
This document discusses developing the mind of Christ. It says that Christians should have the mind of Christ rather than seeking other types of minds. It discusses becoming like Christ over three weeks, experiencing freedom in Christ, and being free indeed. The document lists virtues of godly wisdom from Philippians and James, including being pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. It says all disciples of Christ are growing in godly wisdom, which has eight characteristics - relating to people, responding to circumstances, and decision making.
I speak about the difference between intelligence and wisdom and what God thinks of our human wisdom. This was a Bible class I taught at Gracepoint Church when it was in Roanoke, TX.
The document discusses biblical scriptures and concepts related to God, Satan, judgment, and free will. It suggests that people are often mistaken in their understanding of God and quick to condemn others, and that one must be willing to listen to their inner spirit rather than man to truly understand. It emphasizes that individuals have the power to imagine and create their own states and realities, and should not be afraid but embrace their freedom and ability to change experiences through their thoughts and assumptions.
The document provides a summary of a sermon about Jesus' parables of the hidden treasure and the fine pearl from Matthew 13:44-46. The 3-sentence summary is:
The sermon discusses how the parables illustrate that the kingdom of heaven is of greater value than any earthly possession and should be sold or sacrificed for. Believers are encouraged to prioritize heavenly treasures like wisdom over money and possessions by focusing on their relationship with God through diligently seeking the Holy Spirit. The parables teach that the greatest treasure is knowing God, which provides security, joy and purpose far exceeding any worldly treasure that can be lost or stolen.
Wisdom comes from God, not the world. Those who seek God's wisdom through prayer will find it is pure, peace-loving, gentle, submissive, merciful, and impartial. Heavenly wisdom produces peace and righteousness. In contrast, worldly wisdom stems from envy and selfish ambition, and results in disorder. Believers are called to live wisely according to God's standards.
This talk explains the first two petals of TULIP and focuses on the question: do I choose God or does God choose me? These distinctions form the basis of Reformed Theology.
This document contains cryptic and religious messages and references. It discusses deception, awakening to truth, and transforming the mind. Key ideas include:
- The world is an illusion and great deception, designed to cause suffering until one awakens to the truth.
- One must transform their mind by renewing their thinking and replacing evil thoughts with good thoughts.
- All things were created by God, who is within each person as their spirit/consciousness. One must realize they are not their physical body or personality.
- The purpose of suffering in this world is to experience duality and have equilibrium between good and evil, in order to later transform and bear good fruit.
WISDOM IS POWER: In your Getting, Get UnderstandingDestinyCabuyao
God blesses those who obey Him and bring their full tithes into His storehouse. God promises to "throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it" for those who honor Him with their tithes and offerings. However, some speak arrogantly against God and claim it is futile to serve Him. The document discusses the spiritual blessings believers have been given through Christ, including redemption, forgiveness, wisdom and understanding from God. It encourages gaining wisdom and understanding from God rather than mocking knowledge.
Wisdom invites us to choose the right path in life. The document contrasts Wisdom with Folly, describing Wisdom as inviting people to a feast of truth and salvation. Folly's invitation leads to death. True wisdom comes from God and is characterized by humility, purity, and peacefulness. In contrast, worldly wisdom stems from envy and selfish ambition, leading to disorder. Those with heavenly wisdom show it through good deeds and humility.
The document contains several Bible verses that describe the one true God and establish that Jesus Christ is God. It warns that many false prophets will come and try to deceive people by saying they are the Christ. The verses emphasize that God is the only Savior and Redeemer, that he alone is God with no other beside him, and that Jesus' works on earth proved he was sent by God the Father.
The document discusses the topic of wisdom found in the book of James. It contrasts two types of wisdom - one that is "from above" and one that is "earthly, natural, demonic." True wisdom from God is described as pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, while the other leads to disorder and evil. The document examines different passages in James and Proverbs to understand the source, behavior and motives associated with these two forms of wisdom.
National Alliance for Life Conference Presentation 2021Peter Hammond
This document summarizes a presentation given by Dr. Peter Hammond at the 2021 National Alliance for Life Conference in Africa. The presentation discusses the need for Christians to take action against societal issues like abortion, pornography, and secularism rather than just preach the gospel. It argues that the Bible calls Christians to love their neighbor, which means confronting injustice through activities like protesting, campaigning for moral legislation, and exposing the "works of darkness." While sharing the gospel is important, Christians are also responsible for defending moral values in the public sphere and cannot stand by when others are harmed. The presentation aims to motivate Christians to get more involved in social and political issues rather than remain passive.

Chapter 6 of "Bible Basics" a Bible study manual, dealing with satan, the devil and demons. The case is made that Satan doesn't exist as a personal, cosmic being; rather does the word simply mean an adversary, and is sometimes used about ordinary people, and at times is used as a personification of sin.

- Parents are instructed to teach their children about God's ways both formally and informally throughout the day.
- Several proverbs note that acquiring knowledge and wisdom should be a lifelong pursuit.
- Scripture is seen as a source of wisdom and instruction for righteous living.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
1. Unused Power
James 3:13-18

Jeremias Fababier sermon

jeremias-fababier-sermon-on-christian-witness-126402.asp
2. There’s a story about a wealthy man who
was terminally ill. The doctor said, “There’s
only one thing that will save you. A brain
transplant. It’s an experimental operation.
And it’s very expensive.” The wealthy guy
said, “Money is no object. Can you get me a
brain?” The doctor said, “We have three
available right now. The first one is from a
college professor. But it’ll cost you
$10,000.”
3. The guy said, “Don’t worry. I can pay, it will
make me wiser. What about the second
brain?” The doctor said, “It was from a
rocket scientist. It’ll cost you $100,000.” The
man said, “I have the money. And I’d be a
lot smarter too. But tell me about the third
brain.” The doctor said, “The third brain is
from a teenager. But it would set you back a
million dollars.”
4. The man said, “A million dollars? Why so
much for that brain?” The doctor said, “It’s
never really been used & knows
everything.”
We too have unused power in us, above us,
around us, everywhere, not our brain, but it
is called WISDOM!
We always hear the word wisdom; we even
like to become wise like Solomon. But what
really is wisdom and what can wisdom do
to/for a person?
5. Now continuing our study of James epistle.
James 3:13 NET Who is wise and
understanding among you? By his good
conduct he should show his works done in
the gentleness that wisdom brings. 14 But if
you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in
your hearts, do not boast and tell lies
against the truth.
6. 15 Such wisdom does not come from above
but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For
where there is jealousy and selfishness,
there is disorder and every evil practice. 17
But the wisdom from above is first pure,
then peaceable, gentle, accommodating,
full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and
not hypocritical. 18 And the fruit that
consists of righteousness is planted in
peace among those who make peace.
7. These verses show that wisdom is available
to anyone, so the question here is not do
you have wisdom but which kind of wisdom
do you have, is it really wisdom or wish-
doom? From our text we will see truths
about this topic, wisdom and even the
power that is in it if we tap into the right one
and use it correctly.
8. SOURCE OF WISDOM
1 Corinthians 1:18 NET For the message
about the cross is foolishness to those who
are perishing, but to us who are being
saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is
written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the
wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of
the intelligent." (Isaiah 29:14)
9. 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the
expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the
debater of this age? Has God not made the
wisdom of the world foolish? 21 For since in
the wisdom of God the world by its wisdom
did not know God, God was pleased to
save those who believe by the foolishness
of preaching. 22 For Jews demand
miraculous signs and Greeks ask for
wisdom,
10. 23 but we preach about a crucified Christ, a
stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to
Gentiles. 24 But to those who are called,
both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power
of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the
foolishness of God is wiser than human
wisdom, and the weakness of God is
stronger than human strength.
11. 26 Think about the circumstances of your
call, brothers and sisters. Not many were
wise by human standards, not many were
powerful, not many were born to a
privileged position. 27 But God chose what
the world thinks foolish to shame the wise,
and God chose what the world thinks weak
to shame the strong.
12. 28 God chose what is low and despised in
the world, what is regarded as nothing, to
set aside what is regarded as something,
29 so that no one can boast in his
presence. 30 He is the reason you have a
relationship with Christ Jesus, who became
for us wisdom from God, and righteousness
and sanctification and redemption, 31 so
that, as it is written,
13. “Let the one who boasts, boast in the
Lord.” (Jeremiah 9:24) 2:1 When I came to
you, brothers and sisters, I did not come
with superior eloquence or wisdom as I
proclaimed the testimony of God. 2 For I
decided to be concerned about nothing
among you except Jesus Christ, and him
crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness
and in fear and with much trembling.
14. 4 My conversation and my preaching were
not with persuasive words of wisdom, but
with a demonstration of the Spirit and of
power, 5 so that your faith would not be
based on human wisdom but on the power
of God. 6 Now we do speak wisdom among
the mature, but not a wisdom of this age or
of the rulers of this age, who are perishing.
15. 7 Instead we speak the wisdom of God,
hidden in a mystery, that God determined
before the ages for our glory. 8 None of the
rulers of this age understood it. If they had
known it, they would not have crucified the
Lord of glory. 9 But just as it is written,
"Things that no eye has seen, or ear
heard, or mind imagined, are the things
God has prepared for those who love
him." (Isaiah 64:4)
16. 10 God has revealed these to us by the
Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things,
even the deep things of God. 11 For who
among men knows the things of a man
except the man's spirit within him? So too,
no one knows the things of God except the
Spirit of God. 12 Now we have not received
the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is
from God, so that we may know the things
that are freely given to us by God.
17. 13 And we speak about these things, not
with words taught us by human wisdom, but
with those taught by the Spirit, explaining
spiritual things to spiritual people. 14 The
unbeliever does not receive the things of
the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to
him. And he cannot understand them,
because they are spiritually discerned.
18. 15 The one who is spiritual discerns all
things, yet he himself is understood by no
one. 16 For who has known the mind of
the Lord, so as to advise him? (Isaiah
40:13) But we have the mind of Christ.
Wisdom of this world is foolishness to God,
but the wisdom from God is foolishness to
those who don’t have God in their heart.
19. Genesis 3:6 NET When the woman saw
that the tree produced fruit that was good
for food, was attractive to the eye, and was
desirable for making one wise, she took
some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave
some of it to her husband who was with her,
and he ate it.
She saw the fruit and was thinking to eat it
to gain wisdom. If we go back a little bit we
can see where this notion came from.
20. Genesis 3:4 NET The serpent said to the
woman, "Surely you will not die, 5 for God
knows that when you eat from it your eyes
will open and you will be like divine beings
who know good and evil."
From these verses we can see that there
are surely two sources of wisdom. God and
the devil, heavenly and the earthly wisdom.
21. HEAVENLY WISDOM
comes from God
Proverbs 2:6 NET For the LORD gives
wisdom, and from his mouth comes
knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 1:7 NET Fearing the LORD is the
beginning of moral knowledge, but fools
despise wisdom and instruction.
Heavenly wisdom comes from God; He is
the only source of this kind of wisdom. Now
what is this heavenly wisdom?
22. James 1:5 NET But if anyone is deficient in
wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to
all generously and without reprimand, and it
will be given to him.
When James said this he is referring to how
one should live their life. He is talking about
trials, temptation and how to face it. It
means that wisdom is not an acquired
knowledge from our study, or passing an
exam, or having a good career and job, etc.
Heavenly wisdom is way of life, attitude,
and character.
23. Proverbs 1:20 NET Wisdom calls out in the
street, she shouts loudly in the plazas; 21 at
the head of the noisy streets she calls, in
the entrances of the gates in the city she
utters her words:
Solomon is talking as if wisdom is a person
calling, crying, shouting, raising her voice in
the street, everywhere.
24. James said, “if anyone is deficient in
wisdom…” he refers to how we should live
according to God’s Word.
The context of James letter is about being
doer and not just hearer of God’s Word.
25. EARTHLY WISDOM
On the other side earthly wisdom comes
from the prince of this world, the devil.
Genesis 3:4 NET The serpent said to the
woman, "Surely you will not die, 5 for God
knows that when you eat from it your eyes
will open and you will be like divine beings
who know good and evil."
26. 6 When the woman saw that the tree
produced fruit that was good for food, was
attractive to the eye, and was desirable for
making one wise, she took some of its fruit
and ate it. She also gave some of it to her
husband who was with her, and he ate it.
James 3:14 NET But if you have bitter
jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do
not boast and tell lies against the truth. 15
Such wisdom does not come from above
but is earthly, natural, demonic.
27. It is a wisdom relying on what a man and
flesh can do, according to the desire of the
flesh, according to the old nature as James
mentioned. It is actually foolishness before
God. It is living according to man’s plan and
desire.
What is the source of your wisdom? Do you
have a heavenly wisdom or earthly one?
28. EXPRESSION OF WISDOM
Two factory workers were talking. "I know
how to get some time off from work." said
the man. "How do you think you will do
that?" said the other one. He proceeded to
show her...by climbing up to the rafters, and
hanging upside down. The boss walked in,
saw the worker hanging from the ceiling,
and asked him what on earth he was
doing?
29. "I’m a light bulb" answered the guy.
"I think you need some time off," said the
boss. So, the man jumped down and
walked out of the factory. The second
worker began walking out too. The boss
asked her where did she think she was
going?
"Home. I can’t work in the dark."
30. Being wise of this world means jealousy
and selfishness, etc. But is this really what
true wisdom is? What is really the
expression or demonstrations of true
wisdom?
A judge enters the courtroom, strikes the
gavel and says, "Before I begin this trial, I
have an announcement to make. The
lawyer for the defense has paid me
$15, 000 to swing the case his way.
31. The lawyer for the plaintiff has paid me
$10, 000 to swing the case her way. In
order to make this a fair trial, I am returning
$5, 000 to the defense."
We can say that all these are expressions
and demonstrations of wisdom but again
what wisdom do you demonstrate?
32. HEAVENLY WISDOM
good conduct…works done in…gentleness.
Jesus is the best example of this kind of
wisdom. Philippians 2:1 NET Therefore, if
there is any encouragement in Christ, any
comfort provided by love, any fellowship in
the Spirit, any affection or mercy, 2
complete my joy and be of the same mind,
by having the same love, being united in
spirit, and having one purpose.
33. 3 Instead of being motivated by selfish
ambition or vanity, each of you should, in
humility, be moved to treat one another as
more important than yourself. 4 Each of you
should be concerned not only about your
own interests, but about the interests of
others as well. 5 You should have the same
attitude toward one another that Christ
Jesus had,
34. 6 who though he existed in the form of God
did not regard equality with God as
something to be grasped, 7 but emptied
himself by taking on the form of a slave, by
looking like other men, and by sharing in
human nature. 8 He humbled himself, by
becoming obedient to the point of death —
even death on a cross!
35. EARTHLY WISDOM
jealousy & selfishness
(boasting & denying the truth)
President Woodrow Wilson is reported to
have had a very sharp wit. It seems that
while he was Governor of New Jersey, the
chairman of the New Jersey Bar
Association called him late one evening to
tell him that the Chief Justice of the New
Jersey Supreme Court had just died.
36. After the usual kind words regarding the
deceased, the head of the Bar Association
was trying to find an appropriate way to
suggest that he be named to replace him on
the bench. He said that he would be
interested in "taking the deceased's place."
"Well," said Wilson, "If is all right with the
undertaker, it is all right with me."
That has to be selfish, earthly, wisdom!
37. James wrote that heavenly wisdom is
expressed by having good conduct…works
done in…gentleness. Compare that to the
expression of earthly wisdom, which is
jealousy and selfishness.
Earthly wisdom is selfish, self-centered, just
thinking of oneself interests rather than God
and other centered which is the mark of
heavenly wisdom.
38. Matthew 5:38 NET "You have heard that it
was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth
for a tooth.' (Exodus 21:24; Leviticus
24:20) 39 But I say to you, do not resist the
evildoer. But whoever strikes you on the
right cheek, turn the other to him as well.
How are the expressions, the
demonstrations of your wisdom? Is it God
centered and looking for others welfare
rather than being selfish or self-centered?
39. FRUIT OF WISDOM
James 3:16 NET For where there is
jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder
and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom
from above is first pure, then peaceable,
gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and
good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical. 18
And the fruit that consists of righteousness
is planted in peace among those who make
peace.
40. HEAVENLY WISDOM
good conduct…works done in…gentleness,
(fruit that consists of righteousness pure,
then peaceable, gentle, accommodating,
full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and
not hypocritical.)
EARTHLY WISDOM
jealousy and selfishness
(disorder and every evil practice)
41. Solomon in his wisdom examines human
life & the results of all that people do.
Ecclesiastes 1:12 NET I, the Teacher, have
been king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 I
decided to carefully and thoroughly
examine all that has been accomplished on
earth. I concluded: God has given people a
burdensome task that keeps them
occupied.
42. 14 I reflected on everything that is
accomplished by man on earth, and I
concluded: Everything he has accomplished
is futile — like chasing the wind! 15 What is
bent cannot be straightened, and what is
missing cannot be supplied. 16 I thought to
myself, "I have become much wiser than
any of my predecessors who ruled over
Jerusalem; I have acquired much wisdom
and knowledge."
43. 17 So I decided to discern the benefit of
wisdom and knowledge over foolish
behavior and ideas; however, I concluded
that even this endeavor is like trying to
chase the wind! 18 For with great wisdom
comes great frustration; whoever increases
his knowledge merely increases his
heartache.
44. Ecclesiastes 2:12 NET Next, I decided to
consider wisdom, as well as foolish
behavior and ideas. For what more can the
king's successor do than what the king has
already done? 13 I realized that wisdom is
preferable to folly, just as light is preferable
to darkness: 14 The wise man can see
where he is going, but the fool walks in
darkness. Yet I also realized that the same
fate happens to them both.
45. 15 So I thought to myself, "The fate of the
fool will happen even to me! Then what did I
gain by becoming so excessively wise?" So
I lamented to myself, "The benefits of
wisdom are ultimately meaningless!" 16 For
the wise man, like the fool, will not be
remembered for very long, because in the
days to come, both will already have been
forgotten. Alas, the wise man dies — just
like the fool!
46. Wisdom is more than being wise as the
world understands, it is more than
knowledge, it is not an ability to answer all
the questions on the test, or passing an
exam, an interview or even having a good
career and job, or being popular and
powerful, being rich and famous. But true
wisdom that comes from God is a way of
living, an attitude of the heart.
47. That is why James said that the
expressions of heavenly wisdom are “good
conduct” & “works done in the gentleness
that wisdom brings.” It is more than head
knowledge but heart knowledge, more than
having big head & brain but big heart. That
is also why Solomon said that wisdom is
calling everywhere, because wisdom is an
everyday life according to how God wants
you to live your life every day.
48. If you do this, then heavenly kingdom, true
kingdom is in you!
Proverbs 4:7 NET Wisdom is supreme —
so acquire wisdom, and whatever you
acquire, acquire understanding!
Solomon in Ecclesiastes writes that wisdom
of this world is futile, like trying to chase the
wind! He is talking here about earthly
wisdom because of his conclusion in
Ecclesiastes 12.
49. Ecclesiastes 12:9 NET Not only was the
Teacher wise, but he also taught knowledge
to the people; he carefully evaluated and
arranged many proverbs. 10 The Teacher
sought to find delightful words, and to write
accurately truthful sayings. 11 The words of
the sages are like prods, and the collected
sayings are like firmly fixed nails; they are
given by one shepherd.
50. 12 Be warned, my son, of anything in
addition to them. There is no end to the
making of many books, and much study is
exhausting to the body. 13 Having heard
everything, I have reached this conclusion:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
because this is the whole duty of man. 14
For God will evaluate every deed, including
every secret thing, whether good or evil.
51. So, where does your wisdom come from? Is
your wisdom displayed by, “good conduct”
& “works done in the gentleness that
wisdom brings?” Or does it lean more
towards jealousy and selfishness?
Remember this: James 1:5 NET But if
anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should
ask God, who gives to all generously and
without reprimand, and it will be given to
him.
