A new NASA-developed computing device allows machines to work like the human brain, enabling fast decision-making based on visual input. This technology could allow a planetary rover to avoid obstacles, select spots to explore, and navigate terrain autonomously. A spacecraft could also use this technology to avoid hazards and precisely identify a pre-selected landing site.
