Business Plan 2 0 for Devotional Chef EnterprisesRon Graham
Rev. Robert H. Lacy of Baton Rouge, LA, is the Devotional Chef. His Cookbook, currently in rough PDF form, is under review by print publishers, and contains southern US and Cajun recipes, along with devotions from some of the most well-known evangelical Christian figures in the USA today.
The Chef will have a product launch of his seasonings in New Orleans-area Whole Foods Markets in May 2009.
He is seeking $400K in start-up funding to develop into a national media chef brand, aimed primarily at the underserved evangelical audience. With $30-35K he can have a strong product launch, leading to greater Whole Foods participation and possibly access to other chains.
With the brand launched, Rev. Lacy intends to pay it forward, by opening a soup kitchen in the New Orleans area.
A presentation on how to be confident in working with folks from different countries and cultures as a dietitian (I did this presentation to regional association meetings about 8 years ago, but still very relevant).

“American Comfort Food never tasted so good…So let’s Bless It UP!!!”
2. Meet The Devotional Chef
My culinary point of view is “American Comfort Food”. To me, American Comfort Foods are foods that invoke warmth to your
tummy and soul. These are foods that say “hearty” and “naturally flavorful” food. American Comfort Food is meant to be shared
with family and friends, sometimes at Sunday dinners after church at Grandma’s house. American Comfort Food recipes are a
melting pot for our great food culture in the USA and include recipes from all regions of the country.
In 2003, I published the Devotional Cookbook (1st printing). I had written letters to many nationally renowned men and women
of the cloth – Pope John Paul II, Billy Graham, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, etc. – asking them for their favorite recipe and for a
devotional to be included with my recipes in my cookbook. The response was strong. Several of these national figures have now
passed away. Today, I sincerely count their recipes and devotionals as some of my favorites in my cookbook The Devotional
Cookbook.
I became interested in cooking by watching my Grandfather, who retired as a civilian cook for the Department of the Navy. As a
child, he took me to his work at the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia. He was a good man and an excellent chef. I used to watch him
cook and ask him so many questions. Years later, when he found out I was going to go to culinary school, he was elated. After
publishing The Devotional Chef Cookbook, I was featured in a half page article in the cooking section of The Trenton Times. My
Gramps saw it in the paper at the senior daycare center and commented to me about it when I visited him. Gramps, walking on a
cane by now, hobbled slowly with me to the door. He turned and said “Bobby I Love You And I’m Proud Of You.” You see, I
struggled at life, failing for many years to be somebody. It was not until I asked God let my Gramps see my conversion from drug
addict, to preacher, to The Devotional Chef, and finally, to a successfully published author that I realized a positive change. As I
walked to my car He hugged me! My Gramps was my hero, my inspiration and my best friend. He lived well into his 90s.
My Ministry is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to be blessing to whomever God allows me to minister. Rev. Lacy is
married to Paula K. Lacy. They have 3 adult children and 2 lovely grandchildren. Both Reverend and Mrs. Lacy are ordained and
licensed ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They serve as staff ministers in White Dove Ministries and in the evangelistic
field. They currently reside in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Devotional Chef brand was originally created to build and fund “The Gospel Kitchen” – a non-profit kitchen dedicated to
feeding the hungry and ministering to families in need. Following in the footsteps of Jesus, I use food to soften hearts, nourish
bodies and create relationships. My vision is to establish a men’s and family facility, a local church, a soup kitchen, a food pantry
outreach and a child assistance foundation.
