My Role in Your Project.
As a Senior Architectural Technical Lead and Contract Administrator, I approach my role on all
Architectural projects as been that of a construction facilitator; in so much that I see it as my
remit to develop the designers brief into technically comprehensive documents, from which
your project will develop into a tangible structure. Furthermore, part of my duties will be to act
on your behalf as a contract administrator, endeavouring to ensure that the construction of
your project follows your expectations.
It has become apparent over my 30 years in the Architectural industry in the UK, Australia and Canada (working on projects as
varied as the University of Adelaide’s Profession building to Industrial Garages for unsealed road builders in the Canadian
Boreal ‘Oil Patch’), that my mission in the architectural field is to take designers aspirations and develop them technically, into
tangible, and if possible, Inspiring structures. Obviously not all designers are Frank Lloyd Wright, and not all designs are Notre
Dame. However, be it a humble Industrial unit in West Yorkshire or a Municipal RCMP facility in the BC Hinterland, I like to
believe that I engage the same professional commitment no matter what the size of the project. For me to “Fun” in the activity of
architecture is understanding the concept of a desired space, assisting to develop its final form and then helping to create the
physical form for which it is intended.
My personal interests include Film, Coaching and participating in football; when the time affords me to do so. Motorsport, when
finance allows me to do so, and creative writing when I have enough Ink in my Pen!

Authority. Lead technical support from 2013 to present, producing co-ordinated tender
package drawings and construction package information.
Strathcona Urgent Care Centre - >$100M Urgent Care and Emergency Facility for
Alberta Health Services (Canada). Senior Architectural Technologist/ Contract
Administrator, producing contract documentation and construction information; reporting
directly back to Associate Director. Preparation of Change Notices, editing of schedules
and tracking of submittals. Occasional direction of contractors and sub trades.
Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital: $180M regional Facility for Alberta Heath
Services (CAN): Lead Contract Administrator from 2008 to Completion, producing and
coordinating IFT and IFC packages. Writing and editing of specifications, tracking of
submittals, Issuing direction to the principle contractors and sub trades. (CAN)
Government/ Civil Facilities Projects: South Transit Garage Facility, Fort McMurray,
AB - $35M principle (new build) Transit Facility for the Regional Municipality of Wood
Buffalo. The “Bus Barn” is located off Highway 63 and is to be a LEED Gold signature
building for the City of Fort McMurray. Project initiated in 2013.
Arena Upgrade/Swimming Pool, Fort Chipewyan - $25M Phase II development of the
Archie Simpson Arena for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. New Pool and
Existing arena upgrades.
Prince George, (BC) RCMP Municipal Facility - $25M Regional Police facility in British
Columbia, Production of ongoing site information and change documentation, review of
submittals and preparation of site instructions for Associate Director to action on site.
City of Saint Albert (AB) Canada- Aesthetic and technical design of storm water lift
stations for new residential sub-divisions currently positioned in semi-rural areas.
Production Facilities, Alternate Energy and Petrochemical:
Firebag, Fort McMurray- Oil sands facility for extraction of heavy crude oil using Steam
Assisted Gravity Drainage (SADG- thermal recovery of oil sands deposits limiting surface
land disturbance) $50million project included Control services, Office, Maintenance
buildings and accommodation in one of the most remote areas of Northern Alberta.

Healthcare:
DWA Architects York, North Yorkshire (UK): Working within a private healthcare team of a multi-discipline practice (including Ward Engineering and Ward PM) Projects include 75+ bed
Residential care homes designed to CQC standards ranging from primary domestic to fully assisted living facilities. Principal responsibility for redesigning the “Shell and Core” envelope
from a traditional heavy Masonry construction into a fully sealed (AVB) lightweight SFS structure.
Ar2 Architects in Brough Humberside (UK): working on various new and existing private Care homes, Schools and Medical facilities under CQC latest guidelines and requirements.
YEME Architects Bradford West Yorkshire (UK): Housing/ Student Accommodation (Standard House Huddersfield) listed property; top two floors been an additional timber fame
extension. Principle role was to direct the design of the external timber frame envelope and provide detailed drawings for the vertical circulation areas.
YEME Architects Bradford West Yorkshire. Renovation and rehabilitation of a derelict Public House on the London Road (Nags Head, High Wycombe) into16 residential apartments. Project
was designed in Revit and Executed in AutoCAD.
Production Facilities, Alternate Energy and Petrochemical:
Gelder and Kitchen Hull, East Yorkshire (UK): Allied Bakeries Stockport /Iceland Manchester- Recruited to work on Revit models for both food industry clients over a seven-week period.
Revit models for both projects were created by use of Point Cloud insertion. Models were then forwarded to the structural engineer for addition of structural remediation works
Ar2 Architects in Brough Humberside (UK): £10million Anaerobic Digestive production facility (3AD3 Beverley). Project to be taken to full operational stage dependent upon ongoing full
site design for planning.

Educational Establishments:
Darton Elgee Architects; Leeds (UK): Huddersfield University- Eden and Milton School of Drama: Design and site management relating to major conservation project. Conversion of 150-
year-old Church and Tabernacle into 2 theatres spaces and, teaching rooms. Project required significant liaison with English Heritage. Cost $10-15m (March 2003- April 2005)
Automotive:
SDA Architect Designers; Leeds West Yorkshire (UK),
Creation of Audi UK’s technical manual for ‘The Hanger’ building drawings. This document constituted Audi UK’s Principle design and specification guide for all UK architects,
commissioned in the construction of Showroom / Maintenance facilities. (UK)
Production of ‘Turnkey’ packages for Leading Automotive Companies in the UK. Including; Audi, Ford, General Motors and Aston Martin. Large scale facilities include Gilders’ Motor world
in Norton Sheffield (UK) and DAF truck Facilities in Chester-le–Street for Pendragon (UK)
(June 2005 to August 2007).
Retail & Commercial:
Seymour Harris Partnership; Leeds West Yorkshire (UK): Debenhams (UK) - Design and site management relating to £10m in Redditch, West Midlands. Duties included specification of
materials, working on construction drawings and liaison with site operatives- (2000- 2001)
ASDA/ Walmart Stores; Leeds West Yorkshire (UK): Store planning and facilities management. Specifications and the design and management of department roll- outs for ASDA/ Walmart
Stores throughout the UK to meet regulatory changes for ‘Barrier Free’ access throughout the company’s’ facilities portfolio. - 1995-ASDA Stores Ltd, (Wal-Mart) Leeds.
Housing/ Student Accommodation:
The Harris Partnership; Wakefield West Yorkshire (UK): Leeds University – James Ballie Flats. Design Site management relating to $20m large scale student accommodation project within
Historic conservation area. Also with the Harris Partnership, work was undertaken to produce housing scheme and detail design and building regulation plans for the Newport Pagnell
office for domestic housing projects in the Berkshire area. - (2001 – 2003)
