This study analyzed the effects of cisplatin on E. coli cells using 2D gel electrophoresis. E. coli broth was exposed to 30 μM cisplatin. The 2D gels showed fewer protein spots in the cisplatin sample compared to the control, indicating cisplatin impacted protein production. Specifically, proteins around pI 5.0 and masses 25-75 kDa were affected. Cisplatin acts as a chemical stressor that hinders cellular replication by interacting with proteins involved in processes like glycolysis.
