The posterior parietal cortex is located in the parietal lobe and is involved in voluntary movements, spatial processing, and perception. It helps with controlling gaze, integrating visual scenes, and constructing objects. Damage to the posterior parietal cortex can result in Balint's syndrome, neglect of self-care skills, or Gerstmann's Syndrome depending on if the damage is bi-lateral, to the right parietal lobe, or left parietal lobe respectively. Several studies are cited that explore the functions and effects of damage to the posterior parietal cortex.
