This document summarizes a study comparing student performance in STAT 217 between different curricula used in the prerequisite STAT 216 course. It finds that while student performance in STAT 216 and overall academic history are most influential, the type of STAT 216 curriculum may have a marginal effect on STAT 217 grades after controlling for other factors. A censored regression model is needed to properly analyze grade data where the highest possible score caps performance differences. Overall, previous academic achievement is more important than which STAT 216 curriculum a student completed.
