Poster Analysis
1.
2.
3. Main image of the two
actors/actresses who
play the main
characters in the film.
The males face looks
good on one side and
then hidden in the title
of the film is the ugly
side which hints at him
being a beast and she’s
the girl who saves him
from himself.
Catch line from the
film draws the
attention of the
audience, as It is
written in white to
stand out from the
male’s black shirt.Billing Block
Release date so the
audience can tell when
the film is out.
Title of the film runs down
the centre of the poster
unlike most movie posters.
Draw the attention of the
audience. Unlike most
posters it has an image
behind it too. Hints that it
could be a remake of
Disney’s Beauty & the
Beast.
Actors/ actresses name
to help entice the
audience into watching
the film.
4. Tagline, illustrated in
white and written in
typewriter font,
immediately asks the
question what’s going
on?
Title of the film is
written in the same
typewriter font as
the rest of the
taglines. A written in
lowercase which is
quite unusual for a
movie poster.
Billing Block depicted in
white with Release date
below it in the same
Yellow and Red tones as
the binoculars.
The only use of colour
used within the poster
except for the release
date. Fiery Yellow and
Red tones suggest
immediate danger, love
and death. The images
depicted within the
binoculars shows the
male protagonist
witnessing an attack.
Main image of the male
protagonist, heavily
edited in black and
white tones. The black
drips into the backdrop
of the poster making it
look sinister and scary.
5. Billing Block, Including
production company
logos.
Title of the film and
release date. In
different colours to add
emphasis to the
audience.
Actresses Name to
inform the audience
who is playing the
female protagonist.
The main image is of the
female protagonist. The
image itself is in black
and white the only
colour is depicted in her
eyes, to show the
audience how she was
before insanity took
over.
The clock in depicted in
a faded blue, along with
the words Tick, Tock
around it. This
represents a quote from
the film, one the
audiences will recognise
immediately. The faded
clock represents the
time she has left before
she is no longer the
person she was before.
6. • Thriller/Drama –
Many of the colours used in a thriller/drama movie poster all
are dull, bleak and dark to represent the sinister and
dangerous plot. Only depicting some colours and usually are
hot, fiery tones to represent the ever present danger. The
main images usually are of the main protagonist both female
or male. The images intend to give some information of the
story line but keeping the majority of it a mystery and keeping
the audience on the edge of their seats.
• However, in my poster I decided to use a black and white
theme image, this is to help my title (red) and tag lines
(white/red/black) to stand out against the black and white
background.
