Plants are living organisms that generally do not move. They include trees, shrubs, herbs, vines, grasses, and unusual plants. Trees are essential for the environment as the lungs of the Earth and a source of oxygen. They remove carbon dioxide from the air. Shrubs are shorter than trees and lack a main trunk. Herbs are non-woody flowering plants cultivated for their culinary, medicinal, or cosmetic uses. Vines require structural support to grow and have adaptations like tendrils. Grasses lack stems but are important as a food source. Unusual plants include desert-adapted, epiphytic, carnivorous, and aquatic species.
This document provides guidance on specifications for seeding, turfing, and soft landscaping work. It outlines how to measure and describe in estimates: soil preparation and seeding/turfing areas with thickness and material details; tree, shrub, and herbaceous plant selection with botanical names, sizes, and maintenance requirements; excavating and planting holes; mulching; and maintenance activities like watering and weeding. Examples are given for each item type to illustrate the level of detail required in descriptions. The purpose is to standardize measurement and documentation of landscaping elements in construction estimates.

Lodhi (or Lodi) Garden - New Delhi... popular tourist place for greenery loversAmit Ranjan
A bunch of snaps that I took at Lodhi Garden....
About Lodhi Garden (from wikipedia)-
Lodhi Gardens is a park in Delhi, India. It contains architectural works of the Lodhis, a pashtun Muslim dynasty which ruled much of Northern India during the 16th century. The gardens are situated between Khan Market and Safdarjung's Tomb on Lodhi Road.
Lodhi Gardens was originally a village surrounding monuments surviving from the Sayyid and Lodhi dynasties, but the villagers were relocated in 1936 in order to create the gardens. As there is little architecture from these two periods remaining in India, Lodhi Gardens is an important place of preservation. The tomb of Mohammed Shah is visible from the road, and is the earliest structure in the gardens. The architecture is characterised by the octagonal chamber, with stone chhajjas on the roof and guldastas on the corners.
In the middle of the gardens is the Bara Gumbad and Sheesh Gumbad. The Bara Gambad ("Big Dome") consists of a large rubble-construct dome, a three domed masjid (mosque) and a residence surrounding a central courtyard, where the remains of a water tank can be seen. Opposite the Bara Gambad is the Sheesh Gambad, which contains the remains of an unknown family.
The ChonGae Canal restoration project in central Seoul, South Korea involved removing nearly four miles of elevated highways to uncover and restore seven miles of the polluted ChonGae waterway. A new park called the "Sunken Stone Garden" was built at the water's edge, creating a vibrant public space. The design accommodates 100-year storms by including high levee walls along the sides of the canal. Since the restoration, air pollution has dropped 36% along the stream, temperatures are 5 degrees lower, and biodiversity has greatly increased.
Sawai Jai Singh II established the city of Jaipur in 1727, moving the capital from the congested hill town of Amber. Jaipur was planned according to Hindu texts on city planning, with a grid layout divided into nine wards by main streets oriented along the cardinal directions. This layout aligned with the site's geography, incorporating existing roads and a natural ridge line. The new capital strengthened the region's defenses and economy by its strategic location and planned design.
Landscaping refers to any activity that modifies the visible features of an area of land. The elements of landscape design include focal points, lines, forms, textures, and scale. Natural elements include plants, vegetation, water, earthforms, timber, and stone. Manmade elements include brick, metal, and glass. Process of landscape design considers these elements and concepts to enhance the landscape.
Millennium Indraprastha Park is one of the longest parks in Delhi covering 34 hectares. It was created on a former sanitary landfill site and transformed into a lush green space with various gardens and plantations. The park contains five main gardens - Smriti Van, Fragrant Garden, Foliage Garden, Bougainville Garden, and Topiary Garden - each showcasing different themes, plants, and design elements. It provides a tranquil escape for Delhi residents and tourists amidst the urban environment.
